sogwap - I am in the same boat. I sent my fingerprints in November and had them returned to me in February saying they couldn't read them. I cried a river. I re-sent them and they were recieved February 16th... I am so hurt to see they are taking 13+ weeks. This is unbelievable and simply unacceptable I believe on their part.

The place is actually about 40 miles from my house! I need to go there and tell them to move their a$$es.. :)

Great news from our side. My partner sent a letter from Florida to the FBI in late January. They received it January 22. The police check was returned to them March 16, the letter declaring this was written March 18, postage metered March 22, arrived in Ottawa March 26 (Friday) and was in our mailbox on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River today, March 29 (Monday).

So, it spent exactly 8 weeks at the FBI office. I was starting to get worried.

Oh man, I hope mine is just as quick! :)

When my partner phoned CIC last week about what to do about the lack of a police check, they advised that we could send in the application with an explanation of why we didn't have it yet. We do have proof of payment and proof of mailing, etc.

We got the medical check-up yesterday (still need x-ray and blood labs done) and the FBI check arrived as we went out the door for the medical check-up, so everything is coming together.

My partner did put an expedite date of March 12, I think on the letter, but he's pretty sure he forgot to put that on the outside of the envelope.

Hello everyone!

I actually just got off the phone with the FBI hotline (304-625-5590) and they told me that the current time frame is 9-10 weeks FROM WHEN THEY RECEIVE YOUR APPLICATION. He also mentioned that they are not expiditing requests at this time, but one way to receive your clearance letter faster is by Fex-Ex-ing it there and enclosing a prepaid self addressed enveloped (Fed-Ex, or whatever company you want to use).

I have read other's accounts of them not receiving anything for 3 months at a time so I'm getting prepared for that. I sent my request in, with 2 fingerprint cards, in the beginning of March but I think I might send another couple of sets Fex Ex just in case.

Keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck everyone! :)

what happens if they reject your finger prints and ask u to send them again are they going to take 3 months again :-X

Sadly, I don't think a second set of fingerprints will be processed any faster than the first, but they do say it should be 8-10 weeks. A few people have said that once their application goes over 10 weeks, it gets expedited.

My wife had applied for FBI clearance in second week of Jan and she got the reply in second week of March

Generally it takes anywhere from 8 weeks to 10 weeks.

I guess mentioning the urgency does not hurt and neither does it expedite.

had a reply in mail from them after 3 months that finger prints were rejected and asked me to resubmit this process is just a pain and nothing i had to get PCC from UK too it was so fast and easy and after 3 months i am standing at the same point just couriered them a new set lets see what happens now.

Has anyone tried to submit fingerprints to the FBI via LiveScan? Wouldn't that speed up the process? I searched this forum and found a thread from 2008 where someone posted that the FBI does accept LiveScan for immigration/visa purposes. Is this still valid?

I have asked about sending digital prints which I am assuming is similar to LiveScan and was told just a month ago that the FBI does not accept those.

No, as far as I know there isn't. Even if they email you they will just either say they aren't processing it (which they are) or they will just answer with a formality by saying "Please allow approximately 13 weeks for the processing of your request."

I hate how generic their emails are.

I am in the same situation=( I got a letter from CHC Delhi (dated March 22,2010)that they need my medicals, passport and fbi clearance..and they told me to submit it within 45 days..i called up fbi and they said they received my packet on april 5 2010 but processing is 13 weeks and they do not expedite...Now i dont know what to do since I have my passport and i'm done with medicals...should i just email CHC Delhi or send medicals and passport with a letter stating the reason why my fbi clearance isn't attached with the rest of the submissions...help me pleeaaaaaseeeeeeeee
