FBI certificate questions-Experts please help

Hello All,

I have a question regarding FBI certificate process. I filed my initial application on 15th feb'2010.I am planning to start work on fbi certificate. I need to furnish an address on finger printing when I take finger prints at local place here in Canada. After, I get finger prints (mailed to me after 10-15 days) I need to send them to FBI. So, when I send the fingerprints to FBI, can I use a different address? I have to change my home so I have to give different address. Is that OK?

Other questions:

1) Do I have to request FBI certificate to my personal address (as mentioned by FBI) or can I request them to my family address?
2) Are FBI certificates delivered to India address reliably?

1. Why would a local place in Canada mail your prints to you after 2 weeks? If that's true, find another place. You get your prints done, you walk out with them.

2. You can have them sent wherever you want. The cover letter that you have to submit with your prints has spaces for (1) your address, (2) the address to which you want the results mailed.

3. Mail to India - plan on 2 months.

2 weeks to get your prints back is way too long, you can go to a UPS store, they have fingerprint card and they also do fingerprinting and you can get it on the same day that way you will not face the issue on what address to use... the address you have to indicate on the card must be your new address because FBI will be sending the certificate to your new address. I am not familair with how long it'll take for USPS mail to get to India from the US. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Cando is in Canada, not the USA. Sorry - local police station should do the prints.

Cando, if you are in Canada, then the FBI requirement does not apply to you, unless you have previously resided in the US for more than 6 months. If the latter is the case, then one of the UPS stores can do your prints for you, which you can get on the same day, you can mail the prints along with the payment and a cover letter from the FBI website to FBI. FBI will send back the certification to whatever address you specify after 8-10 weeks (or more from other people's experience).

I am not in Canada and thus have no personal experience with the UPS stores, but most of the UPS stores in the US offer fingerprinting services. The reason I know that there are UPS stores in Canada offering this service is through another forum, I am trying to go back and look at the forum again to get the information for you. However I also ran across a site that offers this service: http://www.commissionaires.ca/greatlakes/home/en/offices/toronto-regional-headquarters/
They do the whole process according to their website but it takes longer, so the better option is for them to roll your prints and you do the mailing to FBI yourself. The rolling of the prints just takes 10 minutes. Hope this helps.
