Can I use FBI Approved Channelers to request FBI Criminal Background or I have to do it directly with FBI?

I'm also confused with following statement on FBI site:

An FBI-approved Channeler cannot authenticate (apostille) fingerprint search results. A request for your FBI Identification Record or proof that a record does not exist must be submitted directly to the FBI if an apostille is needed.

Do I need to have "Apostile" fingerprint results for Canadian Immigration?

Im US Citizen living in US and being family sponsored to Canada.

Anyone used this FBI-approved Channeler and how long did it take you to get your criminal background?

Thank you

If you are living in the US you must go directly through the FBI. I have read on this forum of several people using a Channeler and they were contacted and asked to provide the report directly from the FBI. I haven't heard how long that has delayed their application.

An "apostille" is an authentication or certification for foreign documents, but it can't be used for Canada ...something about Canada not signing the Hauge Convention...

CIC will not accept Channelers reports as they are not original documents, you must submit your prints either by inked card mailed directly to FBI or submitting them electronically. Electronically seems to get back to you alot faster then the inked cards I waited 12 weeks for mine, yet a friends of mine has his done electronically and he had them back in 3 weeks. US uses live scan so just google live scan and your state it will show you locations and services... Good Luck!
