Hi,

My boyfriend and I have been in a long term relationship for 10 years now. We are getting married next year with Indian traditions. We will be getting engaged this year.
What would be the fastest way for him to come to Canada as soon as we are married? I read that the spousal sponsorship takes more than 12 months to be processed. I want to explore all the possible options. Currently, I have applied for my PR and my application is in process.

1. Should he apply for study visa before we are married so that there is no risk of rejection on grounds of "will not return to home country"? And then get married and travel back with me to Canada and begin his studies? (However, his visa was rejected twice in the past)
2. Should we do a court marriage after our engagement and apply for sponsorship?
I read that court marriage can be a red flag for Indians. Also, that would mean that I will need to stay in Canada until the application is approved, right? This can be a problem as I have to visit India for my marriage in a year.
3. Should I go to India and get a court marrage done as soon as the travel restrictions are lifted so that I can add my spouse to my PR application? Will the court marriage be a problem?
4. Should he apply for visa before we are married and apply throough inland process? IF the visit visa application gets rejected, will it be a re flag for the sponsorship application in the future?
5. Is there any chance that the sponsorship application get processed within 6 months if we apply after we are married?

Please provide a solution that would help me get my spouse to Canada as soon as we are married.

A lot of these answers have already been provided. Your future spouse can try to apply for a TRV or study permit before you get married. Although you have been dating for 10 years you have had a very traditional relationship and have not lived together, vacationed together, etc. A court marriage would be a big red flag given your plans for a traditional engagement and and I assume a traditional marriage ceremony even if you have a court marriage. Will you start living together and acting like husband and wife after a court marriage if you have one? Will you announce your marriage to friends and family after the court marriage?
