Hi Everyone,

i am a Canadian Citizen and am trying to sponsor my wife from US (CIC received sponsorship Application, Medical and other documents they required from my wife also all fees has been paid). I just received a phone call from the Immigration office and they interviewed me on telephone for at least 10 minuts ask few questions - is this a normal procedure or am i missing something?

Thanks!

How far along are you in the process? I don't think getting a direct call from CIC is common. Is it inland or outland?

I am in Canada - i submitted the application December 24, 2012, CIC sent me approval letter already. CIC sent a letter to my wife asking her for more docs, information forms to be filled again, i paid the fee and they have asked her to provide Passport copies. we already sent those and cic received the docs they needed, but today i got this call from the CIC and i never heard of such kind of phone interview.

It's natural to worry on such call but sometime they call to verify certain information which they are unable to understand.

One of my friend had applied for immigration and he got call as his family uses only first name and no last name. even though he had submitted all documents but he was called and asked to submit certain docs again. from his example, I would suggest I understand that there is nothing to worry if all info is true as per candidate knowledge. good luck.

dear, my friend had given my no. while filling landing document. I got the call and provided his USA no. VO called him at USA no. and spoke to him. He was worried/confused too. He refused to answer VO question as he was not sure if it's prank or false call. VO gave him fax no. to fax document and phone no. to call. Both were for CIC. I didn't get chance to ask him if he followed the instructions but suggested him that as an applicant, we don't have choice other than to follow the instructions and submit document.

Don't worry & wait for good news.

so you mean this is pretty normal and i should not worry and just wait for any correspondence from CIC - its been 8 months since i applied and i received the approval letter March 1, 2013 - i thought if they wanted to interview me i should be called to do the interview in person but on phone - also does this means my wife has to go for the interview?

Based on the information in your posts, I would say, your wife will need to submit all the documents they requested within the 60 day window. I don't know if she will have to go for an interview, if she does, they will notify her.

you are correct and we already submitted all the reuired docs - but my question was with respect to myself getting a call from CIC Officer in ON and he was asking me questions about my past etc.

I don't know about getting personalized phone calls. Perhaps there was a question regarding your identity or something similar and he needed to speak directly with you to clarify that you were not the person who was 'flagged' or something? There could be a thousand reason why he called you, but in all likelihood it is probably nothing to worry about.

Yes do sometimes make personal calls it quite the norm. I would not worry just do as they ask and one thing you could ask them to do is please send an email to confirm the call they made this way you have something to go back don`t leave any doors closed. This way when they call tell them just say in case I forgot something can you send an email to confirm the info they need in the call. It covers all bases...
