Do you have to show a return ticket when you apply?

What if I want to extend my stay, because I want to apply for PR with my partner, but I don't know exactly how long that would take, should I just put around a year for the extension or what would be smartest?

Also, as I don't have nearly enough money to support my stay, using her parents/ my parents bank statements may suffice? And showing proof that her rent is payed for from the native bands?

Generally, if you can show you've already started the PR process, they won't be hard on you about return tickets, assuming you are from a visa-exempt country. Yes you can show other sources of income/support.

My husband was only denied an extension once, though I can't remember the exact reasons, it was to do with us procrastinating on the PR application. That was after like 8 visitor extensions :P

How would you prove you have started the process? Like if you're in the process of getting the papers together

I have not started the PR process as I can't yet until April, but I will try my best! Also, you need a return ticket if applying for a extension for common law? Huh

It was more becuase I was curious to know since I'm going to be doing that :)
