extending the 180 day collection time for PR card

Hello, I have applied for a PR card and have received an email stating that it is ready for collection and that I am required to collect it in person within 180 days. (by end of May 2018)

Currently, I am outside of Canada and will have to make a special visit just to collect the card within this timeframe, however, I intend to return in July (outside of the 180 days) and it would be much easier and cheaper for me to collect it then.

Is it possible to have the time allowed to collect the card extended?

Most permanent residents in Canada replacing or renewing their PR card will receive it by mail. However, we may ask you to pick it up at a local IRCC office. If you need to pick up your card, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. If you cannot go to your appointment, you can reschedule it with the local office. If you do not pick up your card within 180 days, we will destroy it and you will have to re-apply.
