Hello everyone!

I'm about to extend my stay. I have a multiple entry visa and my last entry to Canada was on May 15th of this year. I have never extended my stay, I need a little advice please! :)
1) I wish to stay in Canada with my husband while my PR application is processed in Mexico City. He is supporting me financially. Will his paystubs and a scanned, signed letter from him explaining I'm staying with him and he supports me financially be enough?
2) We're expecting to receive news from CPC-M (Sponsorship Approval) one of these days, if we're lucky we'll hear from them this week. Should I wait for the sponsorship approval letter to arrive to submit it as a proof that I have a PR application?
3) I would believe my deadline to apply to extend my stay is October 15th?
4) Would sending my receipt number be enough proof of my submitted PR application? Do I have to include any "proof of relationship" besides marriage certificate?

I'm going to be applying online to avoid any mailing delays. Hopefully they will give me a full-year! :)

Thank you very much for your responses in advance!!

1) That financial evidence should be enough.
2) A copy of the fees receipt should be fine as proof of your application. I suppose the approval letter would be good, but only if you get it by then. You never know how long it will take.
3) They recommend applying one month in advance of the expiry, but one day in advance is also fine.
4) You don't really have to send any "proof of relationship" for a visitor permit. All of the other stuff should more than do the job.

Good luck with your extension, bonbon9!.. if you apply for it by Oct. 15, the better it will be as they do ask to do it 1 month in advance.

Hey Bonbon when we extended my boyfriends permit we did exactly what you're going to do.

1. Last 6 months of my paystubs & letter from employer plus account printout of both our bank accounts. Plus signed letter about financial support.
2. He stated he wanted to stay in Canada with partner while waiting for PR.
3. Receipt of payment for PR and def include the sponsorship approval letter.

That should be good and ask for a year. We had asked a year and we got it :)

Thanks Beshoo, robrod and kelkel or your responses! This is very very helpful! :)
I'll apply on the 15th as it is preferred by CIC.

Thanks again!!

i sent my pr application yesterday and i also sent visa extension to vegreville!

i added signed letter from my sponsor that he will support me, pay my planetickets etc.
his bank account information, mastercard info, copy of his passport, copy of marriage certificate, receipt of the pr application, receipt or visa extension, copy of my passport(plus page where is stamps) and application.

i asked just 6months, though its what you can ask when applying outland. anyway, i hope i can get it and i hope the processing time is getting longer and longer... :P so i can stay over xmas and new years ;D

Fingers crossed so you get your extension, Millu!! I read that people waiting for PR get their extensions without problems.. We should be fine! :D
Thanks for posting! I'm sooo sleepy (and a little confused as I was vaccined yesterday) that I might forget a thing or two to include in my extension later :(

Oh no. Yeah vaccinations make you feel weird. More weird than usually :P ;D
Im sure you are fine. I have read too that people get it pretty easily, specially from visa exempt countries. Is Mexico visa exempt?

My visitor visa expires December 1st, currently processing time is 94days, i hope its getting longer 120days would be nice :D

Bonbon9, im curious where you are staying in canada? which city? :D

Millu~

Mexico is not visa exempt. It used to be though! The visa requirements changed last year :(

But I was given a Multiple Entry Visa on January of this year, so I'm pretty safe :)
I'm happy to be able to wait this process with my husband!!

We're living in Toronto, ON, what about you? :D

Oh no, why they changed it???!!!
anyway, its good that you have multiple entry! so you can come and go easily. i have problems on the border everytime (applied twp fall 2009, didnt get it cause the employer didnt get lmo etc...what a mess!). so it doesnt make me feel any better that Finland is visa exempt.

oh, we live in London, ON. we just moved from Toronto couple months ago. i miss toronto tho, alot :D We moved cause of my hubbys job.

AND i miss mexico! its getting colder here and i miss mexico so badly :D

Ohh that's terrible :( are you working now though?

Mexicans need visas now "thanks" to the fake mexican refugees.. >:( :(
I have a terrible experience with this, as I had booked a flight just a few days after they started requesting visas, it's a very long story.. but well, thanks to them I had to apply for a TRV, which was of course denied, because my intention was to come to Canada with my (then) boyfriend to start our life together :(
But THANKS GOD my second visa was granted, and now I'm waiting this process next to him! I think I would go crazy if I had to wait it our without him next to me..

Toronto is a very beautiful city :) I agree that weather in Mexico is much better.. Hee hee :P :P
But Canada is very special, I had never seen "real" autumn anywhere else.. I love the colors of the trees, it is absolutely gorgeous!!!

It seems like you have been to Mexico, that's wonderful! :) Which places did you visit?

I have a quick question regarding the extension!!!

There is a question that asks about my funds to stay in Canada and to return to my home country.. I am being financially supported by my husband, but I feel like this question doesn't apply.. I mean he doesn't really give me "funds" to live in Canada, we just live together, he pays rent, groceries, outings.. It's not like a fixed amount of money that he deposits on my account every month!
Would it be ok to just put N/A on this answer?

Note: I am applying online, in normal circumstances, I would add a note about this just like I did on my PR application, I answered with N/A and provided a note. This is confusing :(

So.. I spent like 5 hours ( :-\) trying to extend my application online..
As this was a terrible experience, I think I will be making a guide soon to help some people out with it.

Have a nice weekend everyone, and thanks for your replies!

This is actually why I think most people are better off mailing the paperwork to Vegreville if there's anything complex about the situation. It's easier to annotate or add an additional sheet explaining things. There's no way it would take you 5 hours to fill out the paper form and mail it.
