Hi there!
Has anybody here extended their staying in Canada for more than 6 months?
On April, 2015 Canadian Embassy sent me the letter with my visitor visa extension till May,2016(they allowed to stay here the whole year...I was pleasantly surprised ;)))
But in June,2015 I had to leave Canada for two weeks and then in July,2015 I came back to my husband. We applied for family sponsorship (Outland) in August,2015.
Now I'm interested is this letter of extension still valid till May, 2016 or I should again apply in December when my 6 months staying will expire?
I'll be very appreciated for your answers

Hi there. Hope you can please help me w this.

When you applied, on the part where they ask for your 'ORIGINAL PURPOSE FOR COMING TO CANADA'... did you answer Tourism or Other??
When I first came here I said I was coming to do some tourism (never mention my boyfriend/current husband, bc he didn't know I was applying, it was a surprise and didn't want to ask for a letter... so I said it was tourism and gave hotel reservation and itinerary). But my real purpose was visit him.

I'm applying for my extension now and I don't know which option I should pick there. Should I said that my 'ORIGINAL PURPOSE FOR COMING TO CANADA' was Tourism or OTHER: visit boyfriend (current husband)

Thanks in advance.

(I am probably overthinking this application, but with immigration you never know)

I wouldn't suggest here anything cause some ppl will start cackle here "never lie", "tell the truth" and stuff like that, so I just tell you my exact situation.
When I applied for extension the first time I declared "Tourism" in the section of the "Original Purpose...", I honestly didn't know where we stand back then, we were just trying the ground, and it didn't really match the statement "Family Visit" from drop-down menu and the "Other" I didn't even consider. We weren't family, we were just making out. :D
When I applied for the second time I stated "Tourism" only cause I declared it at the very first time and info has to match.

I am not saying it's the right thing to do, but it's what I did.
Maybe you should pick "Other" and "Visit Boyfriend/Partner".......

haha you're right, there's kind of a different answer for all the cases.

This is my first time extending. The time I said TOURISM was when I applied to get the visa for the first time.

So now that I am extending is when I am not sure I should say that my original purpose wasTourism or that I actually came to visit him, although I actually did some sightseeing

Thanks for your quick reply!

The same as mine actually, I also, to get the Visa, stated Tourism in the application. I didn't want to burden him with an Invitation letter and complicate things that are not that complicated at all. Besides, there was no problem for me to get the Visa on my own, I have bound with my country (a property) as well as enough funds for support myself on this journey.
I could have fled the Canada as fast as I arrived here if our relationships didn't progress. But they did and I stayed.

We could call it however we want: tourism, sex tourism or a BF visit but the truth is, in both our cases, we fled down to Canada for our BFs :D
And when it comes to Sponsorship we have to be truthful about our initial intentions in Sponsorship evaluation form.
If in my case it will cause relationship interview, I am ready to go through it.
But I still think it's such a minor issue that might be neglected by imm.officer.

Hi there,
I'm in the process of applying extension to stay in Canada online for my mother who is staying with me now. In the application they are asking for documents to support the finances, can i provide my documents or it has to be applicants (mom) itself ? If i can show my documents, what all should i include ? Is it better to ask for 6 months or 1 year ?? TIA.

Hi,
I am going to place an online application requesting extension of stay for my parents in Canada.
Requesting if anyone could help me with below:
1) Proof of means of financial support - Can i upload my bank statements and pay stubs to show that i will support them financially ? do I also have to attach a letter documenting that I take the responsibility.

2) Under Optional Documents - Client Information - which states "you can attach a letter of explanation to your application" . Can I upload a letter written by myself on behalf of my parents explaining the reason for extension, such as "SUBJECT: Visitor Visa extension request for my parents " , or does it have to be written by my parents ?

Your expert opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I just got married to my husband who is a Canadian Citizen. I traveled to Canada for the wedding and stayed after to put together out spousal sponsor application. However, my time is starting to run out and we still don't have everything for the sponsor application, so we want to apply to extend my stay. I wrote a letter explaining why i want to stay. also, my husband wrote a letter stating he'll financially support me while I'm here. Are these 2 letters clear and grounded enough to prove that we want to apply for sponsorship and that we're in a serious relationship?

Dear sir/Madam,
I'm writing this additional statement to provide proof of financial support for my wife, who is applying to extend her stay in Canada.
Since the day my wife has arrived in Canada, I have been financially responsible for her. She has been living with me at my parents home ( ) and will continue to do so, if her extension is granted. I provide her with food, clothing, and whatever else she needs to live here with me comfortably. Below, you will find an official statement of my intent to financially support my wife while in Canada.
I, , hereby agree to guarantee and be liable to financially support my wife while she is a visitor in Canada. If her extention is denied, I will provide her with means of transportation back to the United States before her legal status expires. This guarantee will remain in effect as long as she is a visitor in Canada until she becomes a Permanent Resident, if granted.
I confirm that I am employed and work a full time job as a ( ) for the past 5 years. I've included with this letter, cheque stubs from the past 6 months.
I thank you for taking the time to review my wife's application, as I would love for my wife to be able to continue staying with me during this application process.

To whom it may concern,
this is an addition document to explain my particular situation in applying to extend my stay as a visitor in Canada.
I would like to extend my stay so as to complete my application for Permanant Residence through the Family Class, as well as to stay with my husband during the process.
My husband and I have been together for a total of two and a half years. We met and started dating long distance back in Decemeber of 2012. After a year of dating and visits we were engaged. We planned our wedding and in May of 2015 I traveled to Canada for our wedding. Our wedding took place with friends and family a month later, June 13, 2015. After the wedding I continued staying in Canada with my husband, since I'm allowed a 6 month visit.
Since i've been here, we've been working on our sponsor application, gathering documents, and proof of our relationship. We will be submitting our application within the next 2 months. Since being apart would just be more of an emotional and financial strain on us, we wanted to submit my extention application as soon as possible.
I am requesting a 12 month extention to allow enough time to submit our application and wait for it to be processed.
I understand that as a visitor in Canada, I am not allowed to work or go to school. Because I am not able to work, my husband has been financially supporting me since I arrived in Canada and will conintue to do so. My only intent is to stay with my husband. If my extention is denied, or if Permanant Residence is not granted, I would leave Canada, so as to comply with CIC's wishes.
I thank you for your time and conisderation of my extention application.
Sincerely,

Thank you for reading my post, please answer with any helpful information or tips

If you don't mind , how many visitor extensions has your husband received successfully? Mine has received 7...... We received our first refusal in Feb.
