Extend Stay as Visitor

Hi guys,

My spouse and I submitted an application for PR and OWP.

We submitted the application on May 09, 2019 but we haven't heard from them yet.

My visitor status is expiring on August 24, 2019. (6th month)

Do I need to apply for a "Visitor Record" before my current status expires even though I have an application for an OWP & PR?

You should apply to extend your visitor status if you haven't Received AOR before your visitor status runs out in August.

I would also apply by Paper because the application takes longer. Until you receive a reply, you'll have implied status. That's what me and my SO did

Hi. Did you submit your visitor app already? I am in the same situation as you except my work permit expired yesterday july 7. My husband and I submitted our PR + OWP application May 15, 2019..still no AOR.

Last month, I applied to extend my visitor status online but it was cancelled by CIC. I called them to ask why and they said I did not need to submit anything. Just wait for my AOR.

I did submit my application to extend my status as a visitor on July 07, 2019 and so far what I got was a system generated message confirming the receipt of my app and that it's in progress.

I submitted my PR + OWP on May 09 2019, no correspondence from Cic, no work permit received, nothing so far.
So my status remain as visitor till Aug 25 and as per previous advice I need to extend my status as visitor,so I did.

Yes. It expired on July 7. So as of right now, I dont have a work permit, visitor status or AOR for my PR application. All.I have is implied status which the lady from IRCC said is ok.

Just confused cause I see a lot of comments advising to extend visitor status but when I did, it was cancelled

maybe your situation is different because you have had a work permit before. In my sistuation this is the very first time I'm applying to extend my stay as a visitor. Im in Canada for just 5months.

Think you missed the part where you only have to renew visitor status if you haven’t received AOR from your OWP. No harm in renewing it tough. Would think you should hear something soon, like AOR, if it has been 2 months.

Sorry to bump in here on someone else's thread! I was wondering how often extension of visitor status gets refused? I'm in a similar situation to OP except my status expires in September and we're sending in our Inland app at the end of this month.

maybe your situation is different because you have had a work permit before. In my sistuation this is the very first time I'm applying to extend my stay as a visitor. Im in Canada for just 5months.

I see. That could be a reason. This wait is very nerve wracking. I am very uneasy continuing to work while I still havent got my AOR.

You don't have to apply for a visitor extension but it is advised in case the PR and/or OWP app is returned.
