Hello,
I am a post-doc in Quebec province for 2 years now and still have 2 year more. I have temporary work permit. I would like to apply for the permanent residency outside Quebec because I don't speak French. I did my PhD in Denmark. I live here in Quebec together with my wife and our son who was born here and he is a Canadian citizen. As I have understood the first step is to pass the IELTS exam.
- Do I also need to get my PhD diploma verified or my work experience here as a postdoctoral researcher is enough for applying?
- I will be a principal applicant and will also include my wife in my application who has visitor status here. After the application process when we will be asked for the medical exam?
- If my wife goes to her country 1 month after applying for the permanent residency how her medical exam can be arranged?
- How long it takes to get the invitation for the interview? If my wife will be in another country will she be required to come here for the interview?
Thanks in advance.
Niko

1) yes, foreign degrees require ECA. You only need it for your highest degree, PhD, as that is what your points will be based on.

2) you can do medicals shortly before ITA, if you know you have enough points to get ITA in next draw or you can do it after ITA and then submit it with your other documents. That way you dont lose any time for medical request.

3) medical exams can be done in just about any country.mjust vheck the list of cic panel physicians for your country and choose the one thats closest to where she is staying. Any cic registered panel physician in any country is allowed to do the exam.

4) most people never do an interview, so that will not be an issue in 99% of cases.

All the best!

If you go with WES, simply choose the option that says CIC or Immigration and there wont be any issues.

Good luck with your application.
