Hi Experts,

Does a secondary applicant need to upload/submit reference letter for work experience?

while filling up the EE profile I had entered 5 years of work experience as a secondary applicant. All of it is a foreign work experience.I don't have any canadian work experience.

Thank you.

When you fill EE, if you put secondary's applicant's employment history then you would be asked for employment proof even though it doesn't fetch you any points.
Better would be don't put it there but at the time of PR application, this can be put in personal history.

being a second applicant I have entered my employment history upfront.I referred to CIC website, I came across this hence wanted to be sure before I get into the hassles of arranging the employment letter from the current employer :

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years]).

Individuals who must submit this documentation

The principal applicant
Their spouse or common-law partner (if work experience in Canada is claimed)

No, you will not be required to provide any documentation.

Thanks istari,

Appreciate your help :)

Was wondering if you could point me to employment reference letter format/CIC requirements if you have info on that.

Cheers and thanks in advance

Thanks alot Stanlee, that is a great thread. However, it doesn't tell if there is a specific format or CEC or FSW employment reference letter. looks like it's the same format for reporting work experience under any program (CEC or FSW regardless). I got that understanding correct?

CIC states the following

a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
- should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
- should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits

Hello everyone,

My score is 475 and I just received my invite yesterday ;D I am already in Canada and working as well( I have not shown my canadian experience as I am not getting any points, it is less than a year right now) . I showed my more than three years of work ex from india and my Masters degree from Canada. So my category is FSW. I am almost about to submit my profile. What I am confused about is why do I see Proof of relationship :o required in my documents checklist, I am single and have no dependents, I have one sister who lives in Canada and is a Canadian citizen, I am not getting any points because of her living here, Can anyone suggest if I need to submit this proof or if I can skip it. And I also have Family Member Proof of Status (required) which I can provide but I dont have any proof of relationship.

Thanks Stanlee,

I have composed my letter on these guidelines,

1. Our HR department is contracted out to HR services partner and usually each department has an assigned HR partner who works on the needs of the department so I am getting my letter from the Engineering Manager of my group, would this be okay?

2. I found out that my company does not have a specific email address or fax number. Like each department or manager have their own.
in that case should I put in my manager's fax and email address?

Senior I have query with my APR,

In my previous study permit and work permit applications to CIC I have identified my aunt (mother's sister) who lives in a different province and is a citizen of Canada.

To keep information consistent I mentioned that in my EE profile and that is populated in my APR now.

I learnt just now that Proof of relationship to a relative in Canada, status of a relative in Canada and residence status of a relative in Canada is needed to be provided by the primary application (which is me)

some of the document requirements listed will be difficult for me to provide,

  • Evidence that the family member currently resides in Canada must be provided (a residential lease, mortgage documents, utility bills, etc.).
The documents should be up to date as of six months prior to submission.
  • Proof of the relationship of the applicant or the spouse or common-law partner to the family member must also be provided (e.g., a birth certificate, an official document naming the applicant as a parent, a copy of the inside back cover of the relative’s passport showing the relative’s parents).

I can ask her for the utility bills but she is a home maker and all the utility bills are on her husband's name.

Proof of relationship to the family member (it's my mother's sister) I don't have any document connecting me with her?

I don't want any points for the relative, I just entered the info just so that it's a fact and I have mentioned it in previous applications.

Please advise.

Hi,

My wife is the primary applicant and we got our ITA on 19 October 2016. Our application was in my wife's maiden name as we were in the process of changing name in all the documents. We received her new passport with her new name and new passport number on the day of ITA. Now, the ITA has been issued with earlier details.

Can someone please help us with -
1. Whether we need to change her details in the application? If yes, at what stage?
2. Also, we are unable to locate the 'Permanent Residency' tab (mentioned in the ITA letter) to generate our personalised checklist and begin with this process? Is it under 'Continue Application' tab?

Thanks

Hello Guys,

Need suggestion/opinion from the group.

I took my IELTS and my scores are: Speaking-8, Reading-8, Listening-8.5, and Writing-6.5, which is CLB-10 level in Speaking, reading and listening and CLB-8 level in writing. If I had 7 in writing, it will be in CLB 9 level. And I feel I did not get good score because of my bad hand writing.

My total CRS points right now without my wife's IELTS score and ECA points is 349. Once I get my spouse points, I will have about 369 points considering 8 for education and 12 for language.

My question is: would it be worth taking IELTS again - as I missed out CLB9 level in writing because of 0.5 points and if I get that, I can get 50 additional points in Skill Transferablity factor as I would be CLB-9 or more in all category.
If I do this, I would reach a total point of 426 (+50 for skill adaptability, +7 on language and +20 (approximately) for Spouse Language and education).

Now, based on the trend so far, this 426 CRS points would not be enough for getting ITA as traditionally it has never gone below 450.

What do you guys say?

Thanks

I have a similar dilemma. Just got my results today, all sections 8 but writing 6.5. I admit my writing did not go exceptionally well, mostly because of my messed up hand writing. However, did not expect the score to go as low as it is! Any suggestions guys?

Absolutely disappointed!

Got my IELTS result today. Scored 8 in all sections, except for 6.5 in writing. With this IELTS score, I shall get 390 CRS points, which is of course not at all enough!

Could you guys kindly suggest/guide me on way-forwards? I can opt for revaluation but then it takes more than a month and during this time I believe I cannot enter the pool. Sitting for another test is another alternative but honestly, I cannot find enough courage to go through the grueling routine again! However, if it is a must then I have no choice.

I had faced this situation with IELTS (took through IDP). I had an overall of 8.5 with 9 in reading, 9 in Listening, 8.5 in Speaking and 6.5 in Writing. I believed I had not done so bad n Writing so I applied for revaluation, but to be on the safe side, I applied for another test as well. After a couple of weeks, my score in Writing got increased to 7.5 and they refunded the revaluation fee. But I had already spent another 10k on booking the test again, which they said they couldn't refund. To salvage something out of this, I asked them to change my General test to Academic in case I can use it in the future.
If you are sure you didn't do so bad, go for revaluation.

Hello

I received an ITA on 19th October and I am in the process of filling out the application.
I donot have a surname in my passport, and as per the instructions by CIC, I have entered everything in the last name with a blank first name.
My parents and sibling also have the same issue.
When I am entering the details about my family, the system doesn't allow me to leave any field blank, nor is it taking '-' or '*' as the input. If i put my parents entire name in the surname like I did for myself, will there be an issue of mismatch since a family is supposed to have the same surname.
Pls advise.

thanks!
