Are self employed people eligible for express entry? Everything I read is about joining a job bank... so perhaps I've answered my own question, but I'd appreciate some advice if poss.

Thanks all

Self employment is acceptable as long as your self employment falls under NOC categories 0, A, or B.

I'm a musician...
Is this it?

If so, you are eligible

YES! That's me!!!

All advice to date has been that I can't apply!! I don't want to join a job bank as I earn a great living as a self employed musician (and often already in Canada!)

You've made my day :D ;D

You will still need to join the Job Bank, because that is mandatory to 'activate' your Express Entry profile. However, that is a formality, and you can ignore it entirely.
You will also need to demonstrate employment with substantial documentation- by which I mean, you need to establish you have been working for the requisite amount of time under Express Entry continuously with any and all documentation that you can. Self employment is generally scrutinized more heavily, so have all documentation ready, and all questions answerable.

Please check my post below.

Actually, wait, it turns out there is an entirely separate stream for self employed people- you may want to apply under that, because I am no longer sure if self employment would count under EE in this case.

I'm already pulling together all of my information for my application as self employed, but have been told it can take up to 9 years, hence me dipping my toe in the water for express entry.

Myself and my husband have been full time musicians for 6 years with great international press, contracts, etc. I'm looking at the information on how to get started applying but it seems to refer mostly to people trying to get work. Is there information for someone in my situation?

(and thank you again for your help)

Okay.
Well I am no longer sure whether self employment counts for Express Entry- if they have their own stream for that, it is possible that it does not.I may simply have been mistaken, sorry!

As a musician you should perfectly fall in the cultural category mentioned in the first link.

Thanks all,

As I said, I've already started putting together the paperwork for the self employed category, I just wondered whether, to speed things up, I might be eligible for express entry?
