Express Entry Query

Hello, my husband and myself and our 8 year old son are interested in moving to Canada. We have completed the IELTS tests and have good scores and I have had my legal education verified by ICAS.

As a family we have enough points to apply for Express entry with my legal credentials.

When completing my express entry profile I did so on the basis of immigrating to British Columbia.

I was wondering whether the Canadian immigration programme dictates where you live if you apply for express entry? For example we would be keen to move to Vancouver if possible. Do we get to choose where we move to?

Also in terms of jobs would I only be eligible for express entry/permanent residence after securing some form of job offer? Or am I able to do that once we have emigrated?

Although, when completing our Express Entry profile, we are asked about our destination province - you are free to move to any province when you receive your PR. The choice is completely yours and you could perhaps move to the province where you get a job offer. Keep in mind though, that Vancouver is the most expensive city to live in Canada (and probably North America!)....so you’d need to plan your finances accordingly, at least until either you or or spouse get a job.
Also, a Canadian job offer is not a prerequisite for Express Entry. You can look for one when you land here...and this is the very reason you are required to provide ‘Proof of funds’ as a part of your application. It allows you to pay your bills and bear basic lifestyle costs until you get a job.
