My background check never went to In Progress, remained Not needed at this time.

Might be because of excess load. Try after sometime!

Heads up, guys. There is a new version of the forum that is going to go live in a few days. As one of the senior members, I was invited to test and provide feedback. The site looks good - I'll miss the antique feel that we have now but we have to move on!

Well, I can't (obviously) say that because it doesn't matter to them what I say (they are going to go ahead with the new forum). They are only looking for feedback. I will compile a list tomorrow, discuss with others who are testing and then post submit the feedback.

You should placed a request under the "Access to Information Act" and NOT under the "Privacy Act".

Please select the Department where you would like to submit an Access to Information or Privacy request = Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada

"Which type of records do you wish to request? " ==> Case Files

"What type of record would you like to request? " ==> Permanent Residence

"Which specific information are you looking for? " ==> The electronic notes of the immigration or citizenship officer(s)

You also need to provide a consent form. Check the below post -->

I think it doesn't matter if we choose "Privacy Act" and not have to pay $5. Last time I accidentally requested twice with both Privacy Act and Access to Information act, and received to exact same GCMS notes, so I think we can safely go with Privacy Act and save some bucks.

When you are ordering notes for someone else, you must NOT choose privacy act. If you are ordering for yourself, you can do that.

My background changed to in progresse either on tuesday 21st or wednesday 22nd, but I only saw it on wednesday so I can't really confirm. But on thursday (feb 23) I got the ready for visa email around lunch time in my country (Brazil).

Here's my timeline:
ITA - OCT 19th - 2016
AOR - NOV 13th - 2016
Medicals passed - NOV 15th - 2016
Additional docs - NOV 21st - 2016
Background in progress - FEB 21st or 22nd - 2017
PPR email - FEB 23rd - 2017


Thanks to everyone in the forum! You guys are real lifesavers! I keep posting... there's much more to come! ;D
