Hi I am a little confused by the new express entry system about whether my employer should apply for a LMIA or not.

I am holding a post-graduation work permit and when I got my job offer, I believe it was exempt from LMIA(LMO before). Now the new express entry system seems require LMIA again

"For Canadian Experience Class (not required but applicants can get extra points under the Comprehensive Ranking System for a job offer)
be permanent, non-seasonal and full time, and
be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) list."

Does this mean even though I have a valid job offer, if I don't have a LMIA I won't get those 600 points?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Correct. You need an approved LMIA to get the 600 points.

Thanks! Got it.

What about? : I am on work permit but the LMO (LMIA) i used when applying for my current work permit has expired already? Do i need to get a new LMIA?

To get the points, yes.

Im currently working and my lmo is still valid, can i get points on this or i need a new lmia?

You might still be able to get the points with your existing LMIA (as long as it is an LMIA, not older LMO), providing you also have a valid permanent job offer from your employer.

yes, you can re-read the LMIA part of EE.

if you have LMO not expired yet, you can still use the same for availing the extra 600 points.
I dont think there will be a lot of profiles having arranged offer/ LMIA, In that case even points 400-500 out 1200 should make it to the ITA list.
Good luck!!

So we can use our current LMO to gain more points.

Information has been contradictory and inconsistent about the validity of older LMOs (for this purpose). Hope that this is correct!

Remember that the definition of arranged employment is more than having an LMIA/LMO confirmed work permit, it's also having a written offer of permanent, full-time employment...

Im hoping too this is true...because my employer is more than willing to offer permanent full time job to all of us who are to expire in the coming months.

I would say, try it, submit your EE application and see how it goes... and let us all know!
