Hi,

I just submitted my EE application and got an AOR. Is there any other documents or procedures which you recommend i should be ready with to retard any delays.
Moreover if i get married any idea if i can add on my spouse? Note i already submitted my file since its the last week to go.

Hi Guys,

My "A background check is needed" changed to "In Progress" on Jan 25th and then today it changed back to "Not needed at this time".

What does that mean?

Thanks :)

Jai - Since you were invited to apply and assuming all documents were in order there is not much you need at this time. However as you seem proactive I would keep these ready in case they ask.

1) All you education credentials and Evaluation
2) Employment letter (if applicable)
3) Proof of funds (If Applicable)
4) Police clearance certificate from all countries you lived for more than 6 months
5) Medicals
6) Travel and residence history (With dates and purpose of visit/travel)
7) If already in canada, RCMP cert (finger prints)
8) Valid passport
9) Photos within last 6 months

Again, you must have submitted these already, however keep them ready if asked to send again. Other than that, give yourself 4-6 months for process to complete, there is no consistency in timeline of updates, do not panic or worry if you dont see movement, there are 10s of reasons for that, least of which is system glitch in updates. Behind the scene though your file is making it way to your well deserved PR :).

Good luck

It has to be a pretty rare case where CIC asks an applicant to get his RCMP or finger prints. Majority of applicants never hear of this and get through without it. You can safely ignore it.

Correct!

Police certificates
Purpose

To determine if the applicant or their family members has a criminal record or poses a security risk to Canada
Document requirements

For the applicant’s current country of residence, the PC must have been issued no more than six months before submission of the e-APR.
For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the PC must have been issued later than the departure date of the last time the client resided in that country for more than six months.
The PCs are required upfront and mandatory for each country (except Canada) where an individual has lived for six or more months in a row. This instruction is for the purpose of the completeness check under section R10. However, it is always at an officer’s discretion to request a new or additional PC.
In some circumstances, CIC must ask for the PC on behalf of the applicant. In others (e.g., New Zealand), a client must complete a consent form to initiate a PC. Specific documents are required of the applicant for such requests and must be submitted as part of the complete application.

In exceptional circumstances, CIC may accept

proof of having requested a PC for such countries; or
a letter of explanation of best efforts (not a guarantee of acceptance).

Individuals who must submit this documentation

The principal applicant
Their spouse or common-law partner
Their dependent children 18 years of age or older, including non-accompanying

That is true, Finger prints are not part of actual submission process, however at a later date during your background check if you lived in Canada they may request you to go get the Finger prints, in some cases they ask the spouse alone not the Primary applicant to get it.

This response was to your question about getting additional documents ready while the app in process. You can wait till you get a request to initiate the process. Takes 7-10 days to get the certificate in most cases, in exception cases this could take months, more than 2 months allowed for you to submit the required docs. Use your judgement.

Thanks

I am a little confused... I got an email for CIC regarding additional documents (Schedule A) but dont know if it is for me and my spouse both or just my spouse...I am the primary applicant.
Following is the line from the letter:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the review of your application, we require the following documents:
 XXXXXXXX(some random six digit number) - Spouse Name
 Schedule A: Please use the following link to upload a separate and newly completed Schedule A Background Declaration form (IMM 5669) bearing an original

That is a really long wait... Never heard this kind of wait at the border. But at the end it was all good for you. Congrats.

Guys,
ITA received Dec4th. And Application submitted on Jan 28th. Medicals not passed yet. All those who submitted along the same lines got the medicals passed status within 2 days. Is it normal that medicals passed takes more than a week.

**** Update **** - Just got the medicals passed message !

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question and I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on this. When CIC requests you to send your passport (s) (following PPR), how much time do they typically give you to do so? In other words, do you have to send it immediately, or they indicate a specific deadline/date by which your passport has to arrive to them?

Thanks!
