Either there's a misunderstanding, or they're pretty openly admit that 6 months is just a marketing ploy which they don't intend to even try to live up to.

I think the issue is that CIC never promises to have all applications processed in less than 6 months. CIC aims to do it, but doesn't mean they HAVE TO do it. I think that's why the 27 months still applies for Skilled Workers and 13 months for CEC.

However, looking at the general timeline is seems that 6 months is still a possibility for now.

This is weird. In most of the cases I have seen applicants were eligible for both FSW and CEC aswell so as per your logic FSW applicants who were otherwise eligible for CEC, will not get the timeline of CEC applicants??
How do CIC categorize FSW vs CEC just based on EE ITA or real Canadian experience.
Just because FSW applicants provided additional supporting documents, doesn't mean to forego their CEC benefits if any.

I know it is weird. I was eligible for both and CIC invited me under FSW because I have included more than enough previous work experience. I can't think of anything else that would put me into FSW category.

Either way, the old processing time still applies to your categories even tho express entry aims at getting everyone their PR within 6 months.
