Our ETAs are very similar, so I guess my passports should arrive soon as well! But since I did not send them by VAC I cannot track.

I will be going to GTA most likely and I want to do the same as you, to have a friend mail the PR back to me. Do you know if usually that is OK? I heard that getting a travel authorization can be a hassle sometimes.

I believe it depends on the mood of the officer doing your landing process.
I would love to avoid bouncing there for just one week, but there is nothing else I can do.
I believe that since my timeline was so tight, I wouldn't have a problem getting a TA. Let's see.

Guys, Passport on hands.

It took one week and one day the whole process.

Got PPR on the 29th, went to my local VAC and left our passports there on the 30th. Passports went to Sao Paulo on the same day.
They came back yesterday, 7th of December and I got them today, 8th of December

Sweet. :)

It will be finished when we land ;-)

Hmmm help me out here... Why would you have a problem for just bouncing around?

Once you have PR visa can't you leave and enter Canada freely? Or is the whole problem because you need to have a PR card before you can enter and leave freely?

I'm thinking of doing exactly what you're doing... landing there for about a month to find a place to live and then come back to Brazil to get my stuff together and actually 'move'.

Well, it is not a problem. It is expensive.

PR Visa is a single entry visa. Once you enter canada, it gets voided (The immigrant visa stamped in my Passport, at least is a one entry visa). Once you leave, the PR card is the travel document that lets you go back - and it takes up to 6-8 weeks for it to be delivered at your home address.

So, the perfect world would be to make a one time move to Canada, without coming back. But we are not ready to move definetely now.

Ahhh ok... I found this - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5529ETOC.asp

You need a PRTD when you return to Canada without a PR card...

So I should probably plan to stay there for 2 months before coming back to get my stuff then...

This is getting complicated...

Are you expected to arrive with a definitive home address as well?
