Sorry for taking so long to update on my landing process, but let me share with all of you.
My wife and I did our landing on February 28th. As most of us, we were very anxious about it and had lots of expectation.
The process for us was so simple that at the end, before taking the train to downtown we both stopped for a while not believing it was done already.
Process was like this:
1- We landed at the Toronto airport and proceed to the regular counter to show passports
2- We got to the counter and mentioned we were there for our short landing, the lady told us to proceed to the immigration room right next door
3- We were the only ones at this room, an officer greeted us and asked for our paperwork. he gave a quick look and asked how much money we were bringing: I said only a small amount at this time but had my proof of funds letter..he said OK but did not look at it at all. he told us to sit and wait until our names were called
4- 10 minutes later he called us to the counter, gave us the paperwork and said: welcome do Canada
5- We went for our luggage (2 bags only)
6- After we got them we asked where should we go for the Goods and Goods to Follow paperwork. They took us to another room and looked at the papers
7- Officer told us to wait
8- 10 minutes later he asked if that was we wanted to bring to Canada later on, we confirmed, they gave us a signed copy of the papers and let us go...
That is it, the entire process probably took us 30 minutes!!!!!
The next day we went to a Services Canada office for our SIN number, my wife's was all good and she left with her number already, mine had an issue (seems very common for it to happen) so I had to apply manually and provide an address in Canada so they could mail it when ready. Got the confirmation today that it is on its way and should arrive in the next couple of days.
We are back in Brazil now, a relative will mail us the PR cards, but right now we are finishing our jobs and already sending CVs for new jobs in Toronto. Sent about 10 CVs but no answer on it.
We were in Ontario for 2 weeks and at that time we were able to visit various immigrant support organizations that shared valuable tips with us, was worth it.
Hope it works for all of you as well!!!
