Express Entry - 2015

Hi Folks,

I stumbled upon this article:

http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/1335849/offering-express-entry-to-qualified-economic-immigrants-actively-recruiting-talented-newcomers-for-the-benefit-of-canada-s-economy

Looks like my dream of going to Canada as a FSWP would go down the drain. Express Entry (as I see it) would be open for only those who are in demand in Canada. My plan was to get a PR and start something of my own, on a low scale though. With this Express Entry program, that would take a hit.

Any more info/light on this, please ?

Canada is also changing its FSW to something like the Australian system of selection of immigrants.
That way they're not liable if they don't pick someone's application.
They want to pick and choose from a qualified pool.

I'd suggest you look at other options and countries too, not just Canada.

Yes - this is old news. CIC hasn't published very many details yet but you can find some information here:

Exactly.

The good point about FSWP is that it doesn't have any binding. I can work with/for anyone of my choice. If I wish, I may not work.

This concept of EOI is more liking finding a job in Canada. Makes the whole process of getting a PR in Canada tougher.

Is everyone in agreement here ?

No. I don't agree. When you have doctors and engineers driving cabs, it shows that FSWP doesn't work.

One more thing, is it confirmed that we wont have FSWP for 2014 ?
I have seen absolutley nothing about there being an FSWP 2014, anywhere. By now they would normally have announced it so that people can start to prepare for it opening. Assume the worst.

I am hoping they will add more occupations so the people (like us) who couldnt apply under the FSW category can apply next year.
We have 9 years of Canadian work experience, me as a bookkeeper, my husband as a system analyst. We would find a job very fast in Canada.
Our jobs are not in the occupation list. So we hope for Express entry.

From what I understand you wait in that pool to be selected by an employer or you get a nomination. So English, age, work experience, education are the key here. Just like the FSW program, exept you can apply for the pool without documentation. With the 300 cap for each occupation it was tough for many to be fast enough.

Australia and New Zealand both have a much longer occupation list.
Wonder if Canada will do the same??

Once you apply for your Visa and get it why shouldnt you be able to choose where to go? And if you have your visa, why not start with the employer and then find a better job later?

You dont need a job offer, you can also be selected for nomination. Depends on the point you get. At least that is how the Australian SKill Selekt works.
If you have the right job, education, age and work experience you may still have a chance. Why dont you think you could be selected by a canadian employer?

EOI system will not be successful since as per current rules a person who gets PR status is a free bird. He could choose where to work , whom to work for etc.
In EOI employers will select candidates from a Pool.

My observation:
1. What after landing they do not find the candidate appealing? Not the right fit.

then you can apply some place else, you are still free. If you have your visa they wont sent you home right?

2. The person is going to work for this particular employer who pooled him out. What if the candidate wishes to work for another employer who is willing to pay more.

I am not sure, but who will check later what you do in Canada? Do you have to start working in Canada? Is that how it is in Australia?

3 What if the employer is based in Alberta and candidate cannot survive the cold there and wishes to switch to Ontario.
In short it will be tough ...........
You get a visa, why shouldnt you be able to choose where to go?

Honestly we are so desperate to go back to Canada I wouldnt care about what province. We can move later wherever we want to live. They dont take you Visa away if you switch jobs or provinces

In short, its more like finding a job in Canada and then, when your potential employer deems you fit, you can apply for PR.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes or you get nominated. I still wonder if it take 6 month to get a visa, what employer will wait that long?

For the benefit of everyone, can you please elaborate on 'get nominated'?

Also, what would you believe the average waiting time to be?

Dears,
till now I can't find any official statement saying there will be no FSWP for 2014, anyone got something rather that?
