Hello,

What's the best thing to do for a person with an expired work permit (currently on implied status as a visitor) who has been given an ITA? The job isn't LMIA'able right now....any suggestions?

Same situation applied to me. Work permit expired this month and got an ITA this month too. Right now im under implied status as a visitor and I will be applying for a bridging work permit once I get my AOR after submitting my application.

You can only apply for a bridging open work permit if you have a valid work permit. You cannot apply for a BOWP from a visitor visa or from implied status. You need a valid work permit.

As far as I'm aware, if you have claimed 600 points for an LMIA supported job offer, your application will be rejected if your work permit isnt valid on the date you file your complete pr app . I had a similar issue with a work permit coming to an end. I'm FST, and after a lot of searching the internet finally found this information on the CIC website .

I feel as if lawyers are still not experts on Express Entry. As a visitor then are you able to apply for a work permit once you get AOR? Application may have to be sent to an office outside Canada I'm guessing? Or will I just have to wait to become an actualy PR before I can start working again? Thanks.

If you are eligible for a work permit, you can apply any time. You are not eligible for a BOWP anymore since your work permit expired, the AOR does not change this.

That may be the case, unless you are eligible for a TWP (e.g. have LMIA) or through some other means. But you are no longer eligible for the BOWP, unfortunately.

Before my work permit expired, i applied for a temporary resident permit.

Can I apply for BOWP on a TRP? It is one of the options on the application under (what is your current status).

I am in same boat except that I am going back and will wait till PR process is complete.
