Expired PR card how to prove legal status for H1B stamping?

My PR card expired earlier this year in April. I applied for PR card renewal but I haven't heard back from IRCC yet. It's been around 4 months since the day that I applied.

I am eligible for dropbox H1B visa stamping.

One of the documents they ask is this:

7. Copy of proof of your legal status in Canada

All I have is an expired copy of PR. Will this suffice. Should I just go ahead and submit and hope that they don't notice that it has expired a few months back?

What are the alternatives? Please advise.

That's not really proof of legal status. You could certainly try...

PR card is enough as consulate just used to see and ask for it during the interview but its expired hence its better not to submit that. Did you get the receipt for renewal yet?
If not just provide your COPR copy as long as you are inside Canada then it should be fine.
There is no requirement/compulsion to have PR card. PR card is just a travel document, not a proof of PR status.

I am not sure. We just need to give a copy. I hope you have a copy in your emails/hard drive.
This is important document which you need to keep it for life(even after you get your passport of Canada). Not sure what more i can say on its importance and why you cant even find your copr.

Ask your lawyer.

I just submitted my drivers licence, expired PR card, Health card along with the rest of the documentation..
I am keeping my fingers crossed.. hopefully the officer overlooks the expired part and gives me a positive result..
