I have flights into Montreal but will be living in Ontario. Anyone experiences of landing in Quebec and showing they will be residing in Ontario? I have home ownership docs etc but just wondered if it's a lot less hassle to just flagpole the day after? What's the worse that could happen in Quebec? They just don't process the landing and instead let you in as a visitor?

I don't have any experience with landing at all, however, I am assuming you are here via family sponsorship. If this is the case, it does not matter where you land or where you live. They will land you when you arrive in Montreal. I don't think you have to show them where you will be living or anything else for that matter other than your B4, if you have it, along with your COPR and anything else legally needed for landing.

Unless you were sponsored under like Quebec Provincial Nominee program, you have no restrictions on where you can live in Canada.

Only that there is the small matter of having a 'CSQ' if you're headed for Quebec. No PNP in Quebec, either.

I'm no help, but have you tried calling CIC about this? I would sure want more info about this issue before planning to land in Québec without a CSQ (Certificat de Sélection du Québec).

If he's not planning on actually 'living' in quebec, and he's already been sponsored and approved, why would he even NEED a CSQ? Are you telling me that Quebec is so far removed from the rest of Canada that you have to have special permits to even LAND there? LOL

I don't know if you do need a CSQ to land in Québec if you plan to continue on to another province, but, living in Québec and seeing how differently they do some things, I would not be AT ALL surprised if they make a big deal out landing here without "their" special certificate. I'm just saying the OP should definitely dig until he gets some definite answers to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Yes, they are that "far removed" but no, not to land there. Someone posted earlier that you could live "anywhere" in Canada.

From what I've read, if you land in Quebec, but are continuing to a different province, you need to show some sort of proof of onward travel. In your case, if you have a home in Ontario, then show that and explain that you flew into Quebec because it was cheaper/closer/prettier/had better food and that you are driving/cyclilng/riding a camel to your final destination.

There doesn't seem to be any specific info on the cic website that I can find. The accompanying letter with my cic (spouse sponsorship) states if you are moving to quebec you need a csq. Nothing about landing in Quebec and living elsewhere. I can absolutely show I am living elsewhere (home ownership, medical insurance, etc) all for Ontario. I am flying as it's the closest BA flies to.

I can't find anything either, however I saw 2 other people mention this on a different forum. They were going to Ottawa (or thereabouts), and flew into Montreal. The agent asked them for some documentation showing they weren't going to stay in Quebec.
I did read something more official once, but I can't find it for the life of me. Sorry.
