I lost my PR as I couldn't meet the requirements due to compelling personal reasons. However, I re-applied and have been accepted again. From my previous stay in Canada (in 2001) I have a SIN card and BC drivers License. I'm planning to land in mid 2010 in Toronto, will I need to apply for a SIN again? Also, will I need to go thru the whole process of getting a new drivers license or is there a way to just renew the existing one?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can provide.

The first time you try to use your SIN card will tell you whether it is stil valid. I think it is valid. I spent 6 years outside Canada, and my SIN is valid.

Your driver's licence surely expired long ago, and therefore is probably no longer renewable. I forget the rules for Ontario; I am extraplating from BC's rules. But if you have a driver's licence where you are now, you can convert it into a provincial driver's licence within 90 days of arriving in Canada. If you will be in Ontario, look up the regs on the Internet.

If you got a SIN as a PR (i.e., not starting with 9) it should be valid for life.

Thanks toby/karlshammer.

I guess I'll just just land and then go thru the process.
