Hello all,
I applied to a study permit on 04 June and still haven’t got any update for the embassy. It’s been more than five months. I emailed them more than once and all they replied to me with is that the application is still being processed.
I had to deferr the fall 2017 semster to winter 2018 and i’m afraid that i might not get the visa until then!
I don’t know what to do? What do you guys think?

Did they ask you for deferral letter? or you just submit it yourself?
was it online or on paper?
It was on paper and they didn’t ask me for a deferral letter at all. Even when i linked the paper application to the online account. No one asked me of the deferral letter.

Something is going wrong in your application,
My advice is: write a very formal email explaining all the situation, mention that you already missed your course and they didn't ask you for a deferral letter. And finally attach your deferral letter.
Hopefully they will answer you this time.

I am in the same situation. I applied on May 14, 2017. They asked for a deferral letter on Sep 26, 2017. Since then, no update. What do you mean by very formal letter. I want to write a letter but I need some guidelines please.

First, there is a big difference between your cases. He did not receive a request for deferral. So I guess something is going wrong with him. Maybe a system issue, I do not know.

Formal letter means you fulfill English writing style, something like IETLS writing section. Refer to this thread for more details: https://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Formal-Email

IRCC usually takes formal emails seriously. So, if you send them a casual email with two lines, they might respond with an automatic reply. But if you prepare a solid case and you attach some evidences and of course you mention your application no, full name, passport no, ...etc. In this case, they will double check your inquiry before any response.

I did that but didn’t attach any files at all. They didn’t ask for it. And something is telling me that they won’t. Therefore, i’ll do wht u exactly said if it took two more weeks without any update.

Please let us know if there is any update? I am thinking to email them as well but my application just exceeded 2 months.
