Hi there,

I NEED SOME ADVICE ON MY ISSUE WITH MY ETA...Thank you!!

I am traveling from Toronto to Japan about for a month now and I am a Japanese citizen who is currently applying for PR(common-law sponsorship/ Outland).

My returning flight to Canada was on September 6th. And I have applied for eTA on September 4th expecting that it will be approved within the day. But I overlooked a question "have you ever refused a visa or entey to Canada" and put wrong answer saying "NO". I was actually refused once on my visitor extension in January, 2022. But I filed my PR after that refusal and also restoration for my visitor visa(both are still in process). I was just so not careful....

After I received an email and Letter that I have an opportunity to provide them additional information in regards to this concern. So within the same day, I sent the letter stating that it was absolutely unintentional. Also provided the receipt for my PR application and letter that I attached a letter when I applied for restoration of visitor visa. After 3 days later, I haven't heard from them...I had to cancel my return flight to Toronto.

Is there any way to fast track the process?? Can I apply for another eTA with correct information again? Or somewhere I can contact to??

I have two kids who are Canadian citizens and they have schools to go to... I am really desperate in this situation. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!

There is no way to fast track the eTA. Unfortunately your eTA is now non-standard since you failed to answer the refusal question correctly. This means it's in a queue to be reviewed by an officer. Unfortunately there's quite a backlog right now. Based on experiences on this forum, you'll be waiting at least a few weeks but it could also be months for an answer.

The only alternative available to you is to fly to the US and then to enter Canada through a land border crossing.

Oh - and there's no point applying for another eTA unfortunately. It will be put on hold as well pending the review of your first eTA and your response to the misrepresentation.

Thank you so much for your reply @scylla all the time.

It is quite bad news for me but I guess that's what it is... This situation is one of the worst one I've ever had. I was hoping to withdraw the current eTA and apply for another one because I thought it may be seen by a officer sooner the one in pending. I guess I was wrong.

I will try source the way to enter Canada by land somehow... thanks again

It's too late to withdraw once the misrepresentation has been found. You have to wait for IRCC to review your response and come to a decision on your first application. Everything is stored in the same central computer system. Regardless of what officer reviews your application, they will see any previous applications you have made. A new eTA will not be processed.

The only other option is to fly to the US and then re-enter Canada through a land border. So explore that. You'll need an ESTA to the best of my knowledge to enter the US. Make sure you are super careful when you apply and review that you answer all questions correctly.

Question - how can OP re-enter through a land border without an eTA? OP doesn’t have PR.

Ah - good point. That's not going to work.
