Essential Travel from Canada and Back

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone who is currently working in Canada under temporary work permit and had travelled from Canada and back within last 3-4 months?

I need to travel to my home country (Russia) for a month in mid August for a couple of weeks. Therefore, I am curious:

Whether is it possible to return to Canada under temporary work permit?

What is considered as essential reason?

Do I need any documents to justify the reason for travel?

Would be happy to hear answer for any of the aforementioned questions!

Temporary work permit holders may be allowed to enter but it's not guaranteed.

Keep in mind that although the current quarantine requirement is in place until August 31 it is possible this will be extended so plan for 14 day quarantine on your return.in case

Have you done the travel. Did you need any permission from cic. I am in the same situation and want to go in Nov for one month. Please reply. Thanks.

Hey! Yep, all went well. Nothing was needed except from valid work permit and letter from employer that I wasn’t fired received a week before my travel. Best of luck!

Have you asked a letter from your employer (any specific format)?

I am planning to go to India in December and come back in Jan. I recently received the extended Work permit and visa.
