Hello, Im a Canadian citizen. I want to go to India so I was thinking of an entry visa. Do you know how long it will take? I have a friend who submitted her application last week and its showing it's processing at consulate general.. any idea what the timeline is?

I applied for passport surrender and entry visa in BLS Brampton on 23 Dec.
Picked up my Entry Visa on Jan 4. Its 6 months Dec till June. Multiple entry. Visa type is X-1.

They open 30 slots for the same day appointments at 8:30 am. Security guard announces that the slots are open and all people in the walk-in line refresh their pages and get appointments. Thats what happened with me as well.
I am talking about Dec last week. Not sure now after the covid situation.
Hey! just want to know did you get your entry visa? Was it on emergency grounds? how long did it take?

Are you able to travel without the surrender certificate? Also did you surrender your passport on the same day and also apply for the entry visa?
You dont need surrender certificate for your travel. You can surrender your passport on same day.
in fact to apply for entry visa you either need surrender certificate/acknowledgment received for passport surrender
There is a question on Entry Visa Application which says - Countries visited in last 10 years - Is this based on your new Canadian Passport or on your Indian Passport?
