Most probably it means "Permanent Resident"

Did you get that on the passport when you entered for the first time in Canada or after a random trip?

I always thought that it means your are a Permanent Resident, so the officer doesn't have to put an expiry date (as per visitors).

This happens at random trip. Sometime they write and sometime not..
At your airport, don't you have automatic kiosks(dedicated for pr card holders and canadian citizens) where PR card holders can scan their pr card and Canadian Citizens can scan their passport and then the cbsa officer at the end sees the pr card/passport and lets you go and then you hand over the declaration card at the exit of the airport to another cbsa officer. Usually after using automatic kiosks the passport is not stamped. We have automatic kiosks at Vancouver International Airport. If the person enters the visitors lane/work permit lane/student lane then the passport might get stamped.

Hi.. P.R - Permanent resident.

Now at every airport auto kiosk and you scan the PR card and enter into Canada
there is no stamp at passport, however CBSA record shows clearly that you enter
into Canada as soon you scan your PR card.
