So according to everyone's responses....sounds like the only way to play it safe here is for my sister-in-law to study at least on semester at her original DLI and then we could look at transferring (if she still wants to). The University pushed her acceptance to January. When we applied for her study permit, it was for September. What do we do now since she's not starting until January? She's already send her passport in to get stamped - probably will get it back in about a week. Do we have to inform IRCC that she is not starting until January? And how soon are you allowed to come to Canada before the start date of your studies? Is this said anywhere on the website? Like a number of days you're allowed to be here before classes begin?

Since her deferral is less than 150 days, no need to inform IRCC. She should just get a new LOA for winter, and then plan to travel at most 4 weeks before her classes start.
