Please I need an answer to this question. I studied Microbiology and I will really like to change my field to Marketing. I work as a marketer in one company, Can I get a skilled worker visa from my work experience? or I will need to study Marketing before I apply for the permanent visa.

It doesn't have to do with your degree's title. As long as you can prove that you worked at least for one year full-time, under this NOC and your job duties match, then you can apply.

When do you think NOC 0631 might have reached the cap?? My application reached there on 15th April. I m like 50-50 case. BD is not yet encashed (status as on 29.04.11).

Wish I could say with certainty but I can't. There might be a chance that you made it on time or that you missed it by few days. But this you will know very soon I guess, in a couple of weeks. If you get your PER then fine, if not fingers crossed 31 will be again in the July's list and you will be able to apply immediately.

As far as I know marketing is not one of the noc required but microbiology is. You need practical experience not just degrees.

Thanks for your words of hope. I am getting mentally prepared for receiving the returned documents and reapplying either with NOC 6242 or to wait till 1st July for NOC 0631. I have 3 years experience as NOC 6242 also.

Infiant: if you ALSO have three years experience in NOC 6242, surely you included all your information and the VO will take your second NOC if 0631 did fill before your app arrived. You are one lucky guy!! You will not have your docs returned, they will use what you sent in already.

If that's true.....I'm gonna do Bhangra here. Yes I included all the documents related to NOC 6242. Hopefully, they open and check all the documents. On the envelope cover I just mentioned NOC 0631.

On the envelope cover I just mentioned NOC 0631.

I am not sure if they would consider you for other NOC if you have not mentioned it, on CIC site it mentions you to write all NOC's you qualify on the envelope one after the other.

"On the envelope, list the NOC codes in the order of preference according to question 12 of the Schedule 3 — Economic Classes — Federal Skilled Workers form.

Attn.: SW1 - NOC # _ _ _ _ 196 George Street Sydney, NS"

I pray they do consider your application for the second category but if they do not then you will receive the documents only after about 2 months or so and it will be July by then, I will recommend sending the application mentioning both categories.
