CELPIP test for Citizenship is cheaper and very easy to pass.

Try LINC, it is free and is acceptable for immigration purposes

1. Yes my Bachelors & Masters degree in India is in English medium. I did my Master degree from "BITS Ranchi"

2. CELPIP is an option but i don't want to give that if citizenship can be done without it.

Hopefully there are so many people here in group who have done studies in India "English medium" & working here without doing study in Canada.
Do they all have given english exam ?

1)Yes, I "have done studies in India "English medium" "
2)Yes, I am "working here without doing study in Canada."
3)Yes, I "have given english exam"

->I "have given IELTS exam", but did not have the copy of the results
->I have obtained a certificate from my university which stated the language of instruction during B.Sc was English, but did not submit it to CIC
->I attended LINC course and successfully passed the examination, the certificate of which I submitted to CIC

If you don't want to write another examination, get medium instruction certificate from your university in India

I have done bachelors and masters in computers from India and have got "English Medium letter" from my institute/university and attached its copy with the copies of my degrees/marksheets/transcripts etc and it was accepted.

Try getting the english medium letter for both your bachelors and masters and attach copies of your degrees and marksheets. Also, get transcripts and it may be helpful.

Ultimately, remember, it will be up to CIC if they will accept your degrees as language proof as every study/course/degree is different and cic will determine if the submitted proof satisfies with the requirement as language proof. I am not too sure however they may check the type of study, scores etc. I suppose CIC may have an internal criteria to determine if the submitted language proof is acceptable or not.

My institute/university did. I am not sure if your institute/college/university will do it or not. Get in touch with them to ask.

The absolute requirement for the IELTS exam is for the PR. For citizenship you could get away with other ways to prove language skills. Yes, a letter from the University helps. If you have a current job in Canada, a letter from your boss and or your colleagues as to your proficiency in the language and your job description and the requirement for fluency in the language would serve your cause.

That said, it is way easier to get a good score on CELPIP test and enclose just that score and be done with it... a LINC score alone doesn't help. I had a score of 10+ (not useful). They need a certificate of having used the LINC classes to have achieved a minimum score. LINC classes are not given if you had a good score to begin with...

Hello cprak0,

You raised an interesting point! You are right, 8 is the highest level offered by LINC classes I think... I appeared for IELTS in 2006 for PR application, unfortunately I did not keep a copy of the results. Having submitted the original IELTS to CIC, I had no proof of language proficiency. So I took LINC classes. My English speaking, writing, and reading skills were really good; but listening skills were not that great, scored only 7 in IELTS if I remember correctly. LINC helped me to improve my listening skills.

I think "If you have a current job in Canada, a letter from your boss and or your colleagues as to your proficiency in the language and your job description and the requirement for fluency in the language would serve your cause. " is not a valid option. The instruction guide does not state anything about it and I highly doubt if cic will accept it as a language proof.

Mr VIP member, please don't post unverified and untrue information.
Please read the guide.

The straight forward solution is CELPIP. If you try to send all kind of certificates which are not mentioned in the guide, your application could be returned and you will loose time, money and most important, sleep.

Good luck. 8)

Read coolguy's post again, he did not say it was a valid option. Just the opposite!
