Employment Records for Personal History

Are employment records (e.g. reference letter) required for items listed under personal history in the PR application?

Example:

For my CRS score, I am claiming 3 years of foreign experience under an eligible NOC code. I have obtained an adequate reference letter to support this claim. These three years of experience are the only item listed under Work History.

Under Personal History, I have held various part-time student jobs and internships while I was in school, and I have listed them here. Do I need to obtain a similar reference letter for all of these jobs as well?

Thank you!

No reference letters are needed for anything on the personal history section as you're not claiming any points for them.

Thank you, DelPiero! Is there anything you can point to on CIC's website that corroborates this? I've searched in vain.

Just a little nervous to not include anything I'm supposed to..

I have received my ITA and I can tell you for certain, you will not be required to provide documentation for anything on the personal history section.

Let's say you put 3 jobs in the work history section, then in the document checklist there will be 3 slots for you to upload proof for each employment.

In this case since you will are only claiming points for those 3 years of work there will be only 1 slot for you to upload documents for that specific job.

Also, you can write a Letter of Explanation regarding the fact that the work experience in the personal history section did not add any points to your CRS, and thus, you did not include it in the work history section. This is the standard advice given when adding education/work in the personal history section.

Cheers ;)

Wonderful! Makes sense as I only have one slot to upload proof for employment.

Great news, I was dreading tracking down the numerous internships and odd jobs I held as a student.

I too had a question pertaining to a similar topic. I am a CEC eligible candidate although haven't received an ITA yet. After graduating from a Canadian University, I held two full time jobs in Canada:

First job (lets call it Job A) for 3 months (August 2014 - November 2014). I was a contractor (had to get a GST/HST number and treat it like a business-although I was still an employee) - counts as self employed becasue I had to setup the GST/HST number. Hence I don't want to count this towards my work experience.

Second job (lets call it Job B) for 2 years (November 2014 - Present). Full time employee - I want to count this job towards points for express entry.

Since I haven't got my ITA yet, can I remove Job A from my express entry profile and just keep job B on the profile? or should I keep Job A (and select the "self-employed" checkbox) and job B because these were jobs that I worked at after graduation. I'm worried that if I take out Job A out of the profile, it will count as misinterpretation.

Keep only Job B and put Job A in the personal history section as it does not add any points to your application.

Then write a LOE saying that since Job A was a self-employed job it did not affect your CRS.
