I am employing a live-in care giver from Brazil. She had an interview in SP yesterday, at which time they gave her the medical forms. She is getting her medical exam today.

Does anyone have an idea how long it takes from the time you get the medical to when the visa is issued? From other posts, it seems like once you get the medical, your application is 90% done. Is this true in Brazil as well?

Yes, assuming she passes the medical. CIC does not ask people to spend more money if they are planning to refuse them. HOWEVER, if any misrepresentation or criminal activity comes to light, a visa can/will be revoked. But assuming everything is normal and she is healthy, she should be fine.

Thanks! Any idea how long it will take to have the visa issued from the date of the medical? She did her medical exams last Thursday.

I just wanted to follow up: it took 2 weeks for the medical to clear (my live-in caregiver took her medical exams in Sao Paulo).
