This is my first post and first question. My fiance is from Canada and I'm from the US. We've been together since 2006 and have got ample relationship documentation and are planning to elope later this year, so we'll be married at the time of submission.

My question is, we're planning to have a large formal wedding late next year. We've got contracts with the venue, photographer and other vendors, as well as save the dates, engagement announcement in the paper with the date etc. I wasn't sure if it helped prove the legitimacy of our relationship or if it would make our elopement questionable. Would it help our case to include this information?

Questions #15 and #18 on the IMM5490 ask whether there was 'formal celebration' and a 'reception' respectively. If you check "No" they ask you to explain why, and if it is to be later to provide date and place. Suggest you include the details.

Definately include it and include any paper copies of deposits made for the bigger celebration. Good luck!

Def include...my wife and I eloped in Niagara and plan to have a formal wedding next year. We explained it all in our application. Honesty is the best policy.
