Eligible occupations for 2014?

I qualify for the FSWP under NOC code 2174, but haven't done any of the paperwork yet for this year because I just learned about the 5/13 update to the program. I'm concerned that I've missed the boat for 2013 since it would take me a minimum of 6 weeks to even get back all of the proper documents to send to the CIC.

I know this would be purely speculative, but does anyone have thoughts on whether the eligible occupations might stay the same for next year? I'd like to think that they would since 300 is a fairly low number, and it won't even be clear whether those that helped fill that quota will even land in Canada until some time after they need to announce the new jobs... I'm hoping so, since I'd like to apply next May if the quota is reached for 2174 as it seems it will be soon.

you are right - its very likely that the cap has been reached for 2174, and ofcourse there is no guarantee that this specific NOC will exist next year or not....so you have 2 options:

- gather your documents now, and apply, worst case scenario is that you'll get your papers back and your fees will be refunded,
then you can reuse those documents (most of them will be valid...such as ECA, IELTS,...and some would need to be updated i.e.
Proof of funds, police clearance) to apply next year if the NOC is still open.

- look into the option of immigrating to other countries such as Austrailia, New Zealand and start now...instead of waiting for FSW
till next year with uncertainty if you'll have a chance to apply or not.

and i read from one of the posts, i think in the FSW 2013 thread - that CIC might adapt to the system used for immigration applications to Australia (EOI System). no one can really tell when the caps will be filled out but I agree with @emamabd - the documents can still be used - but let's keep our hopes high and trust the Almighty that we'll get through this!

Hi there,

Can the experience certificates issued from ex-employers with current date (Aug-2013) be re-used for 2174 next year (if that appears next year)?

I think yes because it is ex-employer anyways and once the experience certificate is issued then it should be valid forever.

Any thoughts?

Monu

Its logical, i think you can re-use it as there would not be any change - if you issued a new one - other than the "date"

My suggestion is to send the existing certificate next year with your application (if 2174 appears again next year....in my
own opinion i think there's a high possibility that it appears again - as it had not been in the list for a long time)

If CIC/or visa office wanted a new one they will notify you anyway - after they receive your application and it would not
affect your application...as long as you provide them with what they want within the time frame which they specify.

Hi i would like to ask whether they will still open for nurses next year under skilled worker??
Nobody really knows yet, but nursing has been in previous years, and I notice Quebec are prioritizing that occupation so perhaps it is sufficiently in demand to warrant inclusion.
