Hi there,

I just received this from IRCC:

"It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements."

There is nothing else in this letter in terms of steps / actions I now need to take. Is this a standard letter to basically say they're processing my application? I have already given biometrics, have passed my medical and provided background checks they asked for.

Anyone with experience please share.

Thanks in advance

That is Approved in Principle. Means you can apply OWP amd health card.
And whoever is the sponsor reeived or will receive Sponsor approval letter that means he/she is eligible for sponsorship to spouse or common-law.
Whoever is sponsor check you email

This is a first stage approval.
Rest of the things needs to be check before final decision. Like written in your letter medical, BGC, criminality.
All the best

Look up the timeline for spousal apps online (eg 12 or 14 months). Subtract the number of months that have passed since you applied.

The answer you get is the expected number of months remaining.

Not necessarily
they fastened the process
Some people i know got it after 2 weeks and another after 3 months
I think it really depends on your VO and how lucky you are :)

Yes. Some go quicker, some go slower. The estimate is what the estimate is. If you just pick the ones that go faster, you're cherry picking.

Because the real answer is: no one knows. Or if you prefer, luck.

hello! we can't say for sure how long, I think it depends on VO and a number of people who applied. Did you receive AOR? I can share my experience, though.

Applied 20-N0V-2023
AOR 12-Dec-2023
AIP 10-Jan-2024

I am one of the people who applied for OHIP using the AIP letter. Please note that NOT ALL ServiceOntario know about it, please try looking for the bigger, full-service one. If you are in Toronto, this branch for sure does know about it.

I am currently on a working holiday VISA in Canada and applied for my Sponsorship from here. I received the letter of eligibility a couple of weeks ago and it mentions applying for an OWP. Do I need to apply for an OWP if I am currently already working here?
