Would it be a nice idea to travel with kids and family in the bus from calgary to edmonton ? Are there any airport pickups ?

Umair,

You did an excellent job with this thread. Can you please summarize your experience since you landed from day one regarding housing, job search, weather, desi foods, halal restaurants, driving license etc. Things to do and not to do....

I know that time to time you had mentioned items in your post but it would be really good help to new comers if you can provide all of that as a summary. I hope you can manage some time.

Best regards,
Rajoo

Those who are going to Alberta please advise how necessary is to get you credential /degrees assesses through IQAS (International Qualification Assessment Service) http://employment.alberta.ca/immigration/4512.html
Please advise what the requirements of the service are. What is the procedure?

Is it worth to spend money on this?

Experienced person please advice.

Pl look for Settlement services, Alberta and they will do that for you and you don't need to pay anything, if you already have visa/copr.

Could you be more specific pls, like posting exact site? I tried looking it up but only got general informationm. Thanks

Now for immigration application, credential assessment is mandatory. Those applied before, say in 2010, it wasn't mandatory, by now such applicants .are getting visa/copr If you fall in that category then you dont need assessment for visa, rather you need it for job purpose. So for such applicants, its easy, visit any settlement (settlement.org) office in Alberta they will help you and pay your fee for this.

What about WES educational credential assessment.

is it recognized in Alberta in lieu of IQAS?

Its worth to note that "settlement.org" website is only for the province of ontario

I guess the below website would work for Alberta:

http://humanservices.alberta.ca/newcomer-services/154.html

*I'm not quite sure that settlement offices do pay the credential assessment fee for newcomers - have you experienced this? Or any one you know?

True, settlement services, where ever they are in entire Canada, would help for this. In Ontario, they paid for our degrees assessment thru UoT.
