Hi friends, i am silent reader of this forum since 2years. I have gone through all pages of this thread. You people are contributing nicely for everyone.
I have received pr in this month. We are family of 4 person. I am working as sales manager biotechnology in a pharmaceutical. My wife is a biologist. We have two kids 9 and 4 years old. I have plan to land in april 2014. my sister is living in edmonton. We have benefit to save rent for first 2 months by living with her.
I am confused on two matters, one is severe winter weather thats why i am landing in april and second is my field has more jobs in ontario and calgary.

So what you will sugguest to me friends?

i came to edmonton on dec 4,2012. it was cold as hell. i look for any kind of job even mc donald.
in the cold you can´t get around as easily as in the spring or summer . i didn´t have a car , to make a long story short
i left on dec 27 2012. Came back on april 30, 2013. everything is starting to move companies are hiring for the season

my wife does not speak english that well so we thought it was going to be difficult for her to get a job. We are from Ecuador and we speak spanish, on may 3 we enrolled our kids in school and we met some latin american people and they told us about a latin supermarket so we went over there and posted and ad on the wall my wife got two calls from employers so she started working the next week. I on the oher hand had to take care of some stuff first before looking for a job it took me a week to get a job, the owner of the daycare i put my kids in got me a job in a heavy duty equipment shop.

What i am trying to say is for me it was better to come at the start of spring.
in winter everything slow down

WELL COME AND CONGRATULATIONS :)

a piece of info, ontario is way far from edmonton while calgary is a 3 hr travel.

before moving edmonton, scout and apply first for jobs to both of you before contemplating if where to settle down.
