HI Friends,

I am new in this group. Good to see people who will be living in same state soon.
My husband is living in Alberta, Edmonton and i have been advised by him that ALberta is a place with too many job opportunities and as compare to other states, more facilities are available for new settlers.

Hi ominosh

Me and my wife planning to land in Calgary Alberta around mid August. Can you
Please check with your husband which one is better: Calgary or Edmonton comparatively from job opportunities and living cost prospective?

Would it be possible to get in touch with your husband via email or something?

Both cities have equal opportunity. House rent in Calgary is higher than Edmonton. Calgary have good air connections to most of the European cities.

I have heard that Calgary is more white collar and Edmonton is more blue collar.

Edmonton's average temperature may dip a few degree below Calgary's in the winter.

Any Oil and Gas EPC Engineers in this forum? Civil Structural Design Engineer looking for job in EPC or Engineering Consultants offices in Alberta.
I am currently in India, planning to settle (family of 4) in calgary working as civil/structural design engineer, want to know about rent 2br house and job market at present in calgary/edmonton.

2 bed room flat rent around $1500/= in Calgary. No job available in the market now due to oil crisis. Most of the companies in Alberta are laying off engineers now.

I and my wife going to land in Canada in around Nov. She would be 7 month pregnanat by that time. Pleaes advice on health care as Ontario ask for 90 days time to issue health card while Alberta gives health coverage on arrival.

This would be our primary point of concern to settle as we will be there for approx 4-5 months & will return.

Please advice

Dear All forum members.

I would prefer to share little success story of networking & benefits of active communication & sharing among this group.

I got a lots of benefits from this forum when I started my application for PR of Canada.

I am in Edmonton since 2 years.

I am having technical sales background back home & here in Canada also I started in retail sales. Then gradually moved to banking sector.

Canada is land of opportunity where you can change your career path with proper guidance & advice.

Me & Ameer Ali first got connected thru this forum. We both met first time & shared lots of important information about each others.

We both met 3/4 times [ City Center Mall], Ameer advised me to think on Career in insurance sector. He shared lots of important information about this industry career progress in long term. It seems to me very promising & I decided to prepare for Exam to get License for first step in this industry.

Ameer helped me a lot in getting study materials & exam questions on it.

With Grace of God & advice from Ameer, I successfully passed General Level-1 Insurance Exam & now ready to start my new career in it.
I would like to tell all new immigrant as well as existing members who came recently & planning to land in Canada.
Success in Canada will be easier if you learn art networking with professionals & other members.

Do not hesitate to ask.

Hope this example will help other fellow members to understand value of networking.

Thanks
Mayank
