ecas "Decision Made" waiting for COPR but wife is now Pregenant..Needs Advise.

Hi All

Can any one please advise us on our below situation:

FSW application:

-Wife as Primary applicant (myself and my only child as dependent applicants) applicants from visa waver country
-ECAS status decision made since 2 months now (COPR now may arrives any times)
-Last date to land Aug 2014 (as medicals were done in Aug this year)
-Today we noticed my wife is one month pregnant, but waiting confirmation from doctor (if all normal then delivery due in Aug 2014)

Previous planning was:
To visit Canada (brother Canadian citizen) for5 weeks in May 2014 to complete PR requirements (brother to POST PR card back home)

Post pregnancy planning (here needs advise):
-If we stick to above plans/gets PR/ receives PR card by post/ and then gets baby in home country/and if wants to arrive with new baby to Canada then what should be the process.
OR
-Should we tell VO now (once officially confirmed by Doctor) and then will the impact in terms of status and paperwork.

You help in this will be highly appreciated, and good luck to all

A pregnancy doesn't affect an application, so telling the VO now won't do anything.

One option would be to land in Canada as soon as you can, with enough time before the birth to get provincial healthcare, and stay there so your wife can have the baby in Canada. That way, the baby is a Canadian citizen.

If that isn't possible and you return to your home country to have the baby, you would then need to sponsor your baby to come to Canada. As PRs, you or your wife would need to be living in Canada to sponsor the baby, you cannot sponsor while in your home country. This shouldn't be a problem because the baby will be visa-exempt; you should be able to bring her/him with you as a visitor and apply for the sponsorship once in Canada.

Actually I think have paid private insurance at home country and therefore thinking to have delivery at home country as this will be more easy and stress free.

So please advise if I request VO to pause the COPR process and extend the validity of landing date from existing August 2014 to Nov 2014 (say). I know this can be possible with medical extension but needs your views. I am not in rush though and happy to arrange every thing end of year 2014. as mentioned earlier our pre plans were to visit canada and come back with in month after completing formalities.

So in this scenario isnt this safe to tell VO now?

It's perfectly safe to tell the VO now, it just won't really affect anything.

If CIC is ready to issue the COPRs now, I doubt they will put your app on hold. If they do agree to do it, it wouldn't be on hold for just 8 months; once the child is born in August, you would then need to get all of the forms and documents together to add him/her to the PR application and send that in for processing, delaying the app for several more months. By that time, your meds will have expired, so CIC could very well request re-meds, as well as new PCCs.

I would suggest you get your COPRs, land, go back to your home country to have the baby, come to Canada with the baby as a visitor and apply to sponsor.

Anyway as advised and as safe side have informed by email my VO that my wife is expecting baby in Aug 2014. with a comment "please advise me with my options along with pros and cons"

According to your suggestion if after attaining PR status we come back to home country for delivery, and suppose as per plan my brother in Canada dispatches our PR card to home country, wouldn't this action triggers CIC and raise any concerns about our intention to settle in Canada.

Let us suppose we receive COPR next week (but am rather expecting this week)and if we plan to land in CANADA in mid March (wife will be 4 months pregnant by that time, think should be fine) and come back in mid April. And then as per your advise one of us should be at Canada to sponsor newly born child. Then what will be the document process.

I think it's unlikely the VO will give you options. They will very likely just issue the visas as planned and expect you to make the necessary arrangements to land before the expiry date on the visas.

If you want to have the baby in your home country, then I think you should start making plans to land early next year while your wife is still in the earlier stages of her pregnancy.

As scylla said, there is little chance of the VO actually giving you options, let alone pros and cons.

It is fine for you to land and then return to your home country, it will not trigger any sort of action from CIC. You are not required to immediately take up residence in Canada as soon as you become a PR. Many people land and then return to their country to wrap up their affairs, finish a job, sell the house, allow the kids to finish the school year etc.

Thanks Guys, so have received email from VO that COPR has been dispatched.
So we are thinking to land during this Christmas time and return early Feb. 2014

As I am planning to come back after fulfilling PR requirements, what should be the funds I should take with me. Should this be same as I filled in Application form or can be minimum. Will this be safe to tell immigration that will wrap up later from home country

Lastly wanted to know as I am PNP Ontario candidate, so if I wanted to relocate to BC after landing in ON, is there any time frame for this.
