Hi,

My University degrees title (Inxhinieri Informatike), direct translation to english (by the certified translator) is - "Informatics Engineering".

"Informatics Engineering" or "Engineering Informatics" is the direct translation from many southern European languages of an engineering discipline most commonly known in English as Computer Engineering.

In my Diploma Supplement (the university english transcript of subjects and grades), my University has translated it as "Computer Engineering".

Even google translate, translates it as Computer Engineering.

Now the question is obvious. How should I refer to it for WES ECA? Should I ask the translator to change it to Computer Engineering, to be in line with the Diploma Supplement issued by the University?

Your opinion on this would be very much appreciated.

Same case as mine:

- PhD Diploma & transcript (Italian) = "INGEGNRIA dell'INFORMAZIONE".
- English transcript and EU Diploma Suppliment: "INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY"

You must get the translation corrected in accordance with EU Diploma Suppliment and English Transcript, i.e. "Computer Engineering" in your case.

WES will not accept translation with conflicting title, even though it would be legalized translation.

Ok, thank you for your reply. In that case I might check also the translation of the subjects according to the Supplement, because its a mess on the translator part.

Agreed same here in Italy, it was a mess while getting legalized translation certified from court. They also argued.
Bring along your EU diploma supplement and English transcript, while you visit translator office. If they argue, show them these and ask them to translate in accordance to these.

I don't understand one thing, you need following docs for WES ECA:
- Diploma Supplement (which is already in English)
- Transcript (which is already in English)
- Diploma Certificate (you will get English translation with corrected degree title)

So, where you need to get translation of subjects? as diploma certificate do not contain details about subjects/grades.

When I finished the 3-Year Bachelor Diploma , the University didn't issue any Diploma Supplement at that time (2005). Asked them today, but they said its not possible. I have a Diploma Supplement only for the 2-year Master, which was back in 2010.

Regarding the Transcripts of Grades, I have them issued by the University only in Albanian, that's why I have to translate them. But since you reminded me I will ask them if they can issue an English version as today (which I doubt they will anyway).

They said to me they could only issue the Program for all Subjects in English for the 3-year bachelor, but I am not sure if its relevant for WES, because they ask for Diploma Supplement not Program of Subjects in English. This could be more useful for going back to a University, once in Canada.

I think there won't be any issue, as diploma supplement is preferred to be provided in order to expedite the process, so if you don't have that for Bachelor program, you can provide program of all subjects. In short, you can provide following docs to WES:

- Bachelors Degree Certificate (English Translation) + Program of Subjects - liste e notave (In English, like a Transcript or DMC)
- Masters Degree Certificate (English Translation) + Masters Transcript (In English, check from uni to issue you) + Diploma Supplement.

Further check this link of WES to read requirements: www. wes. org / required / index . asp

The University can not issue Transcript of Grade in English, they said
Only Diploma Supplement and Program of Subjects.

In my case there is also a problem with the Master diploma issued. Back at that time the University issued diplomas called "Second-level Diploma" which as stated in the Diploma Supplement and (education legislation law in our country) is equivalent to Master Degree.

So I have a translation of the diploma title as: Second-Level Diploma (which I think is unique in the world)
While the University refer to it in the Diploma Supplement as Master

Since Wes requires a word-by-word translation it will not be wise to ask the translator to change that, second-level is quite different from master. I don't think it will help with evaluation, normally they should focus on number and title of subjects with program, years of study, ects credits. I mean even if I call it Master of the Universe, they will not issue a higher degree of evaluation just because the title says so, right?

Submit program of subject in english, it would be sufficient.

I don't know exactly, but I think second-level diploma is Master's degree.

As per my believe, WES will give ECA by title which is written on supplement, i.e. Master, it should be.

Try WES FREE Equivalence TOOL for your country, it will give you accurate ECA, this you will get from them.

I tried the ECA Tool but for my University it allows to choose only a 4-year or 5-year diploma, for the latest the ECA results in a 4-year Bachelor.
I will put all efforts on my part, but I am afraid this is how they will accept it in the end (if hopefully everything else is ok)

There could also be a final 'problem' in the end, as on all education documents in my country the father name is also present (as requested by law). So if the ECA is assigned to X Y Z, my name in passport is X Z. I might need a birth certificate or some other document to state X Y Z and X Z are the same person, but that's not a real issue for now.
