Dear All Experts,

I am thinking to apply under EE. I have few doubts as below -

1. Can take points advantage by getting ECA done for my spouse ? I guess this mandatory now. Please correct me if I am wrong. ( She has done B.com and MBA done from Pune University Regular and not correspondence )

2. If Yes to above question - Do I need to pay twice the fees for evaluation like for B.com and MBA ? In my case I have paid CAD 299.85.

3. How do I register with the name with before marriage or after marriage name ? ( As there is a surname change after marriage ) report contains which name after marriage or before marriage ? I am little bit confused here. Her passport is updated with after marriage name.

Experts help will be very much appreciable on this.

Regards,

Sagar Jain.

1&2) Yes. ECA for spouse is not required but will give you extra points. Both degrees can be assessed at the same time with one fee payment. Make sure you ask WES to assess both degrees otherwise they only do it for the highest degree.

3)Use the current name (the married name).

As Principal Applicant does it requires to access both following degrees.

1- Master degree from Germany
2- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pakistan

Because I sent all required documents MSC degree, Bachelor degree, HSC and SSC.

And WES did assessment for highest degree "Masters degree".

Will it be sufficient for FSW to get 23 points.

If your masters degree is found to be equivalent to a Canadian masters degree then you will get full 23 points.

Thanks a lot for reply. Yes WES did write master degree equivalent to Canadian Masters degree in section items

My WES Report is as follows:
CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY
Master's degree

CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS:
1- Institution Status: Recognized
Length of program: Four Years
Major/Specialization: Mechanical Engineering

Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years)

2- Institution Status: Recognized
Length of program: Two Years
Major/Specialization: Production Management

Canadian Equivalency: Master's degree

So in details they do mention Bachelor and Master. However, in Summary it is only stated as Master's degree.

Express Entry: Ten Misconceptions

Misconception #1: Anybody can enter the Express Entry pool.
Truth: Candidates eligible to immigrate to Canada under a federal economic immigration program may enter the pool.

Misconception #2: You need a job offer to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry.
Truth: A job offer is not required, but it certainly won’t hurt.

Misconception #3: Express Entry is the only way to immigrate to Canada as an economic immigrant.
Truth: Express Entry will facilitate the immigration of most economic migrants, but provinces will still be able to select a certain allocation of immigrants outside the Express Entry system.

Misconception #4: The eligible occupations list for the Federal Skilled Worker Program will continue under Express Entry.
Truth: There will be no eligible occupations list as of January 1, 2015.

Misconception #5: Sitting and passing a language test will not be required in order to enter the Express Entry pool.
Truth: Candidates must have passed a standardised language test recognised by the government of Canada in either English or French before they may enter the pool.

Misconception #6: When a candidate is issued an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence, he or she is likely to have enough time to begin gathering supporting documents and submit an application in time.
Truth: Candidates who only begin to gather supporting documents after being issued an invitation to apply may struggle to submit a complete application within the 60-day deadline.

Misconception #7: Candidates will know for certain how many points they will need under the Comprehensive Ranking System in order to be issued an invitation to apply.
Truth: Candidates will know their Comprehensive Ranking System points total and the government of Canada has said that candidates will know what the points threshold was for the most recent draw. However, candidates will not know their specific ranking nor how many points may be required for the next draw.

Misconception #8: Once an Express Entry profile has been created, it cannot be changed, regardless of whether a candidate improves his or her points.
Truth: Candidates can update their profiles while in the Express Entry pool.

Misconception #9: Candidates can enter the Express Entry pool by giving false information and, if subsequently issued an invitation to apply, immigrate to Canada.
Truth: Misrepresentation will be caught and will carry stern penalties.

Misconception #10: Express Entry will be a seamless, easy process.
Truth: The government of Canada is reviewing applications more rigorously than ever, and candidates will have to provide a lot of supporting documentation that meets the standards set by CIC.

Who needs an ECA?

If you have a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate, you do not need to get an ECA.

You will need to get an ECA for your foreign degree, diploma or certificate if:
a.you want to be considered for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) under Express Entry
•you are a principal applicant, and
•you got your education outside Canada, or

b.you are an Express Entry candidate (or their spouse or common-law partner coming with them to Canada) being considered for the Federal Skilled Trades Program or the Canadian Experience Class, and you want points for your foreign education.

[GUYS FROM THE ABOVE STATEMENT mentioned on the CIC website. It is very clear that for FSWP you do not need to get your spouse ECA.
I am not for FSWT or CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS. I am for FSWP so I should NOT be worried about it. No use of getting it done for spouse because it is not mentioned that you get some additional points unless you are FSWT or Canadian Experience Class applicants.]

I'm sorry but as of today this is wrong information. It appears CIC has updated the site making ECA for Spouse as required if one wants more points. Point b, bullet 2, clearly says ECA is needed to enhance CRS points. From the same link as provided by the earlier post (I'm not allowed to add links yet)

You will need to get an ECA for your foreign degree, diploma or certificate if:

b. you want to receive Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for your foreign education
for yourself as an Express Entry candidate, or
for your spouse or common-law partner coming with you to Canada.

Hello everyone,

I have posted this question in a different thread, but I'm hoping someone can also answer this question of mine.

I am the principal applicant and I asked my husband to have this masters evaluated in WES.
We already got the evaluation of his masters but the bachelor's degree was not evaluated.

We contacted WES to also have his bachelor's evaluated but we were asked to pay additional fees.
Can I still use the "Master's degree" assessment of my husband in Express Entry for additional pionts even if we did not have his bachelors evaluated?

Thank you very much!

You must use the "Master's degree" assessment of your husband, no need for the bachelors.

thanks for this info muhzahid :)

Hi
I added my spouse's ECA information however it didnt change my score a bit.
Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong.

Hello,

I have more than required points for Express Entry without adding spouse ielts and education. I know it is not mandatory to input spouse IELTS and education.
But do you guys think it affects the decision at all if i do not input spouse education and language test?
