Hi All,

I had two questions regarding the ECA degree verification. First, do I need ECA verification for my bachelor's degree if I already have that for my masters degree from the US? Second, do I have to get an HEC attested copy of degree and transcript before sending it to WES for the undergrad degree I completed in Pakistan? Even if you don't know the Pakistan-specific information, I would be much obliged if you could share any information regarding the first query. Thanks a lot!

Hi , you will have to create a separate account with WES Canada ( https://www.wes.org/ca/) WES US evaluations are not valid with Canada CIC..

when u create an new account in WES Canada, you can send both Bach & masters ( separate seated envelope) together since the fees is same.. it is better to get both degrees evaluated..

Dear fsahmed,
I also have bachelors from Pakistan and post grad from overseas. I chose to get the ECA for both my degrees. I can understand that you want to skip the process for Pakistani credentials due to the work involved. However I wouldn't recommend it. There is no consensus on this issue on this forum. Theoratically you would only need to get your Masters evaluated. However some forum members claim that since you are claiming points for both degrees, both need to have ECA equivalence.
It would be kinda stupid to prepare everything submit your application and get rejected because you didn't furnish ECA for bachelors. Therefore I decided to bite the bullet and took the safer option.

I would also recommend using IQAS instead of WES. The main reason being WES asking for SSC/HSC certificates directly from board even for Bachelors degrees. This is a PITA to furnish. IQAS has no such requirement. When I started my ECA application in March, IQAS was the fastest way to get ECA without SSC/HSC documentation. I am quite sure this is still the case but you can ask around.

In addition if I were to do my ECA today, I would probably go with CES. IQAS is now taking 10-15 days for application / documentation confirmation + 25 business days to complete the evaluation after all documents are received. This is far too long. CES has a rush service for 499 CAD which processes the applications in 5 days. 499 CAD is expensive but probably not so expensive in the big scheme of things.

Hope this helps. Hit me up if you need any more information.

I just got my masters `evaluated particularly for CIC, am i good with that?
The report says canadian equivalency= Masters
What do you mean by getting both evaluated? The website asks for highest degree only
Please see my response to another query above.

Guys, for CIC purpose if you have got masters ECA , that is enough.. no need for Bach ECA..

but if you are creating a new account with WES to evaluate Masters , it is better to send both Masters and Bach transcripts, because....
1. you get both evaluated for same fees
2. sometimes WES does ask to send both , due to unknown reasons
3. For certain Masters degree, WES evaluates as Bachelor.. ( yes bachelor ) , in that case if you done both, then at least you can apply for Two or more degrees..

So if you already done Masters ECA with WES, then that's it.. just apply for EE with that..

Hi Jojii,

Thanks for the very helpful reply. I checked both the portals and IQAS definitely seems easier even if its taking more time. I would love to hear your thoughts on just going ahead with IQAS, as opposed to WES. I know the procedure to get the HEC to give sealed envelopes with the attested photocopies, but WES also says there needs to be an update on the HEC website, do you know what this means and how do I get this?

My masters is from the UK. I only got my masters done and WES gave me a masters equivalency. Its fine.

Any ECA service is better than WES. They are the WORST and still people keep running to them. Its just herd mentality. I have tried both IQAS and WES and IQAS is like a billion times better. I would either go with IQAS or CES. Never WES! They have ruined so many peoples lives with their wrong ECA reports and many have not take the trouble of getting it re-evaluated with the other ECA providers.

For the rush service, does CES require some explanation for this service? Cuz I emailed them and they said that you have to provide a solid reason for availing this service. I am confused, what reason should I give to avail the rush service?
