Ok for some reason that link didnt work...Here is his response
"Hi Hazel,
It's nothing to worry about. This is a little technical but I'll try to explain what happened.
For those who don't know what Hazel is referring to, the e-CAS tracker adds four numbers to the very bottom of every email it sends out, like this:
User ID: XXX
Combination: XXX
Case Type: X
Case ID: XXX
That information is entirely internal to the e-CAS Tracker system. It refers to which records in the system appear to have been updated, and is there in case anyone asks questions about the update. If they send me the email, it lets me know straight away which record in the system they're referring to.
User ID refers to the record for the user (the person who signed up for the tracker). Combination is the number in the system for the record of which combination of surname, login id, country of birth, etc are being used. (It's possible for users to sign up with more than one potential country of birth, say, and the tracker then tries them all until one works successfully.) Case type refers to what type of entry in the tracker this is, and case number is the unique identifier for each case. Users can have more than one case, and for the purposes of the e-CAS Tracker's internal storage, case means any record on e-CAS where you can click through and get a details page (it does not mean quite the same thing as "case" in terms of how CIC would refer to it, being an entirely separate application). So, for example, if somebody has a PR card application, a spousal sponsorship application, and the spouse's PR portion of the application all showing on e-CAS, that's actually 3 "cases" as far as the tracker is concerned.
Hopefully that makes sense.
Now as to what happened with your tracker, Hazel, (and I suspect a few others as there was a huge flurry of activity with the first automated run on the tracker this morning), is that the structure of the e-CAS page changed. The info on the specific case didn't, but because the layout changed, the tracker thought something had been updated.
From my notes about the case types:
Case type 10 refers to "PR application, applicant, with no mailing address"
Case type 4 is "PR application or citizenship application, applicant"
So all that actually happened was they added your mailing address to the system, but that was enough for the tracker to think something might have changed, so it emailed you. In fact, adding the mailing address in and of itself may be an indication that something has actually been happening with the file.
I hope that's clear enough, but basically it's nothing to worry about.
"The e-CAS tracker is pretty good now (it's been watching hundreds of people's e-CAS files for years), and it sends the update email no more than about 6 hours after the actual change on e-CAS (it checks e-CAS for you a few times every day)... but occasionally something crops up it doesn't know how to deal with. It is programmed to throw errors (which emails me automatically) if something goes wrong, or it encounters a new situation it doesn't know how to deal with, but even then I would say logging in yourself once a month isn't a bad idea, just in case something changes and you don't get the email.
It's also not uncommon for people to enter their email address wrong - I've had a number of people's e-CAS trackers that were fully functioning, and trying to send updates, but the update emails actually bounced because they didn't enter their email correctly.
