Today I was checking CIC online portal to check for updates on my immigration process, I had found the following:

Permanent Residence:

We received your application for permanent residence on July 30, 2013.

We started processing your application on June 17, 2014.

What does that mean? I thought they started processing the same day they received the application! Any feedback will be highly appreciated

Thanks for the fast reply, what is the PER? ist that email that they sent stating that I am eligible for processing? if it is, I recieved this mail on 31/10/2013.

Hi again to all,

Can somebody here who have some information related to the new law on citizenship to be implemented next year 2015 can share to us some information that might help us in deciding. The new rule say that in order to be eligible to apply for citizenship, we need to stay as PR in Canada for 4yrs out of 6 yrs. This also include the requirement of 6months in every year of the 4yrs to be physically present in Canada... We landed last March 23, 2014 and planning to go back to Dubai temporarily for approximately two years until we come back on June 2016. In this case, we can still maintain our PR status but our eligibility to apply for citizenship will be prolonged for 2 years to 2021 (instead of 2019 if we will not go out anymore from the country). Am i right on this interpretation? Please correct me if i am wrong. Will our PR status will be affected by our plan to stay outside the country for 2yrs?... Another thing is about the 4yrs out of 6yrs new requirement for citizenship, is it required to be consecutive 4 years or can a gap in between the 6yrs is allowed? Thanking you in advance for whatever opinion you can share.

Yogi77, your interpretation is right. If you don't stay for 6 month in a year than that year will not be counted in 4 years out of 6 years requirement. I believe PR status can be maintained if you go back to Canada within 5 year. 4 years requirement is not consecutive, it is any 4 years out of last 6 years. Seniors please confirm the understanding. How has been your last 3 months in Canada? Where you landed?

Started processing means your application is with visa office and soon you should receive email from them asking for medicals or any other documents which they require to process your application.

Anyone knows or having experience of cancelled visa from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, going back to home or Canada, Immigration at airport asked questions about the pending Electricity Bills or Etisalat / elife etc pending unpaid bills or lines not disconnected or asked for clearance certificate

Nekeol, I have passed through cancelled visa from Dubai airport and no questions were asked about utility bills. Please don't worry if you have paid all your bills and cleared electricity and telephone accounts. When are you planning to land in Canada?

Hi Guys,

I need your help. I lived in Dubai for 9 years and moved to USA last year. now I have to get Dubai PCC and from USA the procedure is quite tedious.

I have to send finger prints to UAE embassy in Washington who will authenticate the prints and then I will have to send whole package with documents to Dubai police and they told me it could take 3 months to get PCC.

Has anyone applied Dubai PCC from USA? I really can use some help. I need quicker solution as 3 months is a long time.

Appreciate your help on this.

Jig nesh, this is the procedure to get PCC from UAE. If you can find some agency(Apostille services) in USA then this time duration can be reduced to 1 month. Best Luck.

Sushma1976, to answer your question on where to apply...

For FSW candidate in Dubai, if you are resident of UAE and have been in UAE for over 6 months, AHU (Abu Dhabi) will be your Visa Office (VO)
although at first you will send all your necessary papers to CIC NS (Nova Scotia) Sydney Canada.

After necessary validation, you will get eCAS status as Application Received. Then it will be transferred to your VO. Ofcourse, in the meanwhile, if you can change address within the country or outside the country you can intimate them using a url and your application will be moved to that VO (If necessary).

and if so, how to fill up the form? in qn 5 -- Commissioner of Oaths, signature of commissioner of Oath? who is commissioner of oath?

I am of Indian nationality and working in Middle East.

as per CIC we can choose the Visa office of
a) as per nationality ----which gives an option of New Delhi Visa Office
b) as per current residence country-----which for middle East, gives an option of London Visa Office.

Please help me what to choose as a Visa Office.

if someone experienced and aware friends can share the merits / de-merits of both then it will be really helpful.

As an expat i spend most of the time Middle East and stay outside India.
