What's up friend?

Regards,

By the Grace of God, received my PPR2 today (within just 3 days of PPR1).
My VO is MCH. Until 5th june (when i suddenly received my remedicals), I had not even bothered about my immigration case for several months as my case was very old and super delayed.
I did medicals on 10th june which were submitted on 17th june.
He/She is processing my case superfast because I wrote him/her after remedical request that if I dont get visa within summer, i will not be able to move this year since my kids are in high school and I cannot move in middle of the year.

I have to say, canadians do have a generous heart. I guess thats why they have opened their doors to rest of the world.

God bless my soon-to-be new homeland :)

NS has annual quota, if ur file was selected in first year they will inform u otherwise next year, which may take long time as well. if u r eligible for the FSW recent profssions, apply again as FSW applicant, whichever is first u can select, option will be with u.

FSWP 2013 applicants, May end applicants gets their PER by July- August.
No one can predict this year how fast or slow they will process the applications. Usually time consuming stage is @LVO not @ CIO Sydney.

Wanted to share.

I had a word with the Canadian Authorities to be specific with 'Canada Revenue Agency, Income Tax Department'. + Same confirmed by CBSA as well.

And these are my findings.

For the left over money:-

1. You are allowed to bring as much money you can.
2. You don't need to pay taxes on the money which you haven't not earned on the Canadian soil (before you become PR).
3. But you need to pay the taxes on the interest earned on that money until you bring that money in Canada. (For example- If I had 10k$ left over money after the 1st landing, and if I wish to bring this money after 2 years, I need to pay taxes on the interest of this 10k$, which my banks give me as interest let say 30,000 INR. So on this 30,000 INR I am liable to pay taxes to Canadian government.
4. For the tax reduction at the end of the year, make sure you have all the records to back up your claims that this money has earned overseas before you became PR. For example your old bank statements etc...
5. Or If you are employed after becoming the PR and working outside Canada you become liable for taxes for the money remit into your Canadian account, if that money earned in some certain countries where they have tax treaty then it will be tax free, but subject matters.

For the left over land:-

1. You can dispose off your land in your home country and then bring the money, there is no time frame to do this.
2. You need to pay taxes on the Capital Income earned after selling your land. For example- I had land worth 1,00000 INR. After my initial landing after 2 years if I sell this land for 1,50000 INR. 50K more than I my original price, so this 50k becomes my Capital Income, and my this 50,000 becomes liable for taxes.

So bottom line no there is no hurry to take all of your hard earned savings at one go. You can delay as much you can. Only one the Capital Income we have to pay taxes, and need to back up the claims with proofs.

Hope this will be of some help to all.

Thank you,

I have a query, is it must that we show all our savings before landing in Canada, suppose i have few FD's and i am not intend to bring that money to Canada at all, do I still have to shw that money, or liable to tax? please shed some light.

Secondly, if I am applying for FSW from Dubai, what will be my visa office in UAE, is it Canadian consulate in Dubai?

thank you in advance

Your VO will either be London or New Delhi (assuming you are an Indian Citizen).

You can have LVO as VO if you have UAE resident visa NDVO if you are Indian Citizen. Be wise and go for NDVO, LVO is too slow.

No, it is not mandatory to show all of your savings while landing in Canada, it's totally your decision. Read my above post for better understanding. As a landed immigrant you need to carry the required POF for the first time landing.

Anyone who know a good lawyer who can notarize copies of my documents at cheap(reasonable) price?

Happy Canada Day Eh!

Pls advice i have some gold items without receipts which are very old i bought it 15 years back or so i am going to include it in the list and will put todays value to it. Is it necessary to get it valued through jeweler or is it ok to mention myself i dont want to visit jeweler for this so need some experienced advice. Thanks

Hi Suleman

If you have bills for all the gold you are carrying then there is no issue

If you don't have all the bills you need to take all your gold to a gold shop and get it weighed and approx value of the gold as per that day's gold rate and ask them to prepare a stamped list on their letterhead.
Once this is done you need a 1 copy of the list, 2 PP copies and 2 copies of your boarding pass.
On the day of your travel go to the airport police and submit the above to them. They will stamp it on the spot and you should not have any issues when your bags are Xrayed.
I did this when I moved t Canada last year ( Aug 2013)
You can double check if the procedure has changed by consulting the police at the airport
Hope this helps
