It is advisable to apply directly and avoid consultant.....they will mess up your application

Dear All,

I landed in Calgary and took DD (from Standard Chartered Bank) as my funds to Canada. When I presented that DD to my bank here, the bank manager told me that it would take at least 30 days to verify the instrument. She further told that she has seen that in some cases it took over a year for the DD to get verified. So, there is no maximum time limit for it.

Do you guys have any such experience?

Regards,
AAJ

My friend this is what you get when you have a US$ DD drawn on a US bank. You would not have faced this with a C$ draft.

Expect about 45 days delay minimum.

But don't worry this is common and happens with everyone unfortunately.

It was CAD$ draft, though I used Standard Chartered Bank.

45 days are fine. But I am really worried if it takes a year??? Was it true or she just exaggerated it?

What is the address of the bank written on your draft? If it is a Canadian address then it is total BS, there is no clearing time if it is drawn on a bank in Canada, only a hold time that they put on new customers.

It is issued to Royal Bank of Canada, 180 Wellington St W, Toronto. So, what do you say?

Thanks Ibasco and Nekeol for the inputs.

choosing permanent resident does not allow you to enter dates (from to) is that ok??

Dear guys pls help.

Same question with libra, ( didn't see a reply that is why I am raising the same question).

If I choose permanent resident, the from & to field are not available. Should we leave this blank? OR right manually the dates from having the residence visa till say to date?

Please advise...:)

There is something wrong with the information given to you. Log into internet banking and see what is the status of the DD there. If you have not deposited the DD already, suggest opening the account in RBC.

Any one who traveled recently can shed a light...

Hi,

Air transit visa is not required for Germany if one is not passing the immigration and have a valid USA,UK,Canada visa etc. Below is the link for confirmation.
