Hi All,

Got letter of 6 to 12 months wait. Hoping that they have done points calculation at this stage and now only left with background checks and security check?
Any comments?

Rgds.

Congrats, with in next two weeks you should have your PP back, after 7 days you should start calling the courier company and check using your mobile number, if you have not send prep paid envelope, or else you could track ur Air way bill number.

Just wanted to share sad news. I received letter today which says I dont perform job duties as per NOC.
I think they are rejecting all those who applied specialty in IT profession.
Its realty frustrating for me but for them they have to reduce the back log :)

I don't think doing appeal will do anything so I would rather claim refund and apply again. And this time I think I should lie about profession as they don't trust truth ;)

Looking forward to expert advice from seniors so that I plan next step accordingly.

Unfortunate... two of my friends got rejected who are IT professionals..
Consultants are the major culprits. They include all the IT related applicants into the available category whereas it will be specific to some jobs. They are interested in getting their fee only, no commitments...

Most of the time, the applicants wish to keep their intention for migration as a secret. And the consultants know it very well. They will convince you to pay the fee and they will commit taking care of everything...

Hi,

1. Both r the same. BTW, it's also called a "Cashier's Cheque".

2. U don't require an a/c in Canada to make a draft... It's however made in ur name (or anyone in the family, who'd open an a/c in Canada). The draft is "payable in Canada", remember that.

3. AFAIK, only Al Fardan Exch is currently providing this facility, for anyone. U could also obtain it from ur own bank, where u have an a/c... Many banks could do that, not all though, who have a reciprocal tie-up with some Canadian bank.

4. There will be no issues. As long as u have a draft @ hand, it's encashable overseas. Wait times vary though, bank to bank & with the arrangements both parties have. BTW, I get mine encashed within 24-hrs @ TD Bank with the draft/s made thru Al Fardan.

5. I never face any. Though there's the same procedure of "declaring the funds" in Dxb as well, similar to the one in Canada, ie. the $10K declaration... but I've never found a way/form to do that, thus never did declare anything.

Good luck.
Qorax

Thank you Qorax, that was helpful. Any idea how much Al Fardan guys are charging to make a draft? And what's the validity of a draft once made?
